The last set of Flats in my house arrived with my Gibson Studio, just for the sake of trying them, I left them on it for a couple days to try them out - again. They were horrible in every imaginable way, dull, no top, no crispness, no clank when using a pick, at first I thought that the bass was a Dog and that I'd made a huge mistake in buying it. Fortunetly, @BklyynKen had sent me a set of SIT PowerSteels and I put them on it and it was instantly great to my ears, those are the perfect match for a TB Plus pickup. My other most recent experience involves TI Flats, let's just say that they fell far short of the hype that seems to surround them, tonally there were bland, like that Italian sauce were talking about yesterday. The tactile is the other aspect, I simply detest how Flats feel on my fingers.
With all this said, this is just my preference, nothing more. It's not meant to insult anyone's choices on strings, as it is said, "Play what you love, love what you play".

Agreed. Outside of cutting up here, I always encourage people to find the strings they like - whatever those are - and play them.

And I just found out that a friend and former co-worker for ten years during the aughts died of a sudden heart attack in January. I last spoke to her around the holidays. She was only 65. I found out by trying to call her to just say hi.

I could argue that fuzz provides compression. But you would counter that fuzz acts as a limiter not a compressor and that it is different. So I won't.

Working on a recording project here, we split the guitar signal and record one track with just the DI and another through the pedalboard-amp-SM57. I was surprised at how much difference there is in the dynamic range.
