RIP Iggy.

Australian music icon Ignatius Jones, 67, has died after battling a short illness.

67 doesn't seem very old these days.

He had a varied career.
Lead singer in Jimmy & the Boys, joint singer with his sister Monica Trapagna in Pardon Me Boys.

A Creative Director at Sydney's Vivid Festival. Sydney Olympics opening and closing ceremonies, Sydney NY Eve shows.
He was quite theatrical.

His band member with the big hair (in various clips) went by the name Joylene Thornbird Hairmouth. Stood for the Senate as well.

It was all happening in Sydney during the 70s-80s!

Notable songs.
Jimmy & the Boys:
* I'm Not Like Everybody Else (Kinks cover)

* They Won't Let My Girlfriend Talk to Me (Neil Finn song he gave to them because Split Enz didn't want it)

Pardon Me Boys
* Beat Me Daddy (8 to the Bar)

* Stairway to Heaven (with a different co singer this time, for a TV show).

Yikes! Sorry man - that's a rough way to find out.
I had a strange one like that some years ago. In the late '90s, I worked with a man for a while, and he was good at his job. Five or so years later, I needed to hire a guy like him, so I called him and sent him an email. About a week later, I got a call from his mother who told me he had died of kidney disease. I had known he had some kidney issues, but didn't realize how bad they were. His mother seemed pleased that I both remembered him and respected him enough that I would want to work with him again on a construction site. It was still a bit awkward.
