On an open E string the new ‘64 is about 3/32” air gap at the leading edge of the neck pup and about 6/32” air gap at the trailing edge of the neck pup. The bridge pup is about 4/32” and 6/32”.
Weight is 9 pounds 1 ounce. About on par with other Eppi birds I own, which seem to run a bit higher in weight than my Gibson birds.

Just strapped it on, and you’re absolutely right. This one stays nailed to wherever you leave it - noon, 1:00, 2:00, 3:00 no problem. Again, it’s a keeper.

You're very valid points of lack of perfection are in no way enough to make me not want one. Sounds like a more than great bass, and a fantastic one for anywhere near that price range. Thank goodness sparkle might be a a bit much for church use! It clearly have four or five sparkles too many and that will keep me from having to buy one.
Haven’t checked the electronics that close yet. Strings undoubtedly have a bit to do with it but these strings are in the same family as the ones on my VP, so there shouldn’t be a massive difference.

If those Squier Wide Range Humbuckers are anything like the Fender ones you’re gonna love that beast. Just be prepared for a massive wall of sound.Couldn't help myself and ordered a stupidly named but fabulously looking (both my opinions) and sounding Squier Paranormal Rascal Houdi Bass. I added the "Houdi", Max Webster fans understand.
Anyway, I can't wait for it to arrive and I already started to envision a project with those pickups in those same positions (a bit closer to the neck than on a Jazz or T-Bird, more like in a Sabre perhaps). Another Telecaster perhaps? Or a non-reverse style bass.
Dangerous thoughts. Luckily those pickups are not available separately.
Chuck, I love the relic job on that bass. It’s one of the very very few I’ve seen where the paint checking actually looks authentic. I wonder if the refin was done so long ago that it naturally checked vs forced faux checking. Either way, love it and play it in good health.
