Yes - a heavy 4-string-set... it's part of how I get my sound; pick/palm-muting centric/mid-centric tone settings/bridge pu-centric/and heavy strings to bring the beef.

My jam-mates have a few referenced band names we occasionally bring up when appropriate... "Giant Genitals" (Gentle Giant) , "Crimson Prick" (King Crimson) and "Tote'n Barley" (Hall & Oats)

Definitely one of their worst even 'though the childish mask of "Giant For The Day" comes close. That album is their worst, "Acquiring The Taste one of their best.
One thing I don't like on the first three Gentle Giant albums is the bass sound. It's not bad and the playing is superb but there's something in Ray Shulman's attack that the short scale Mustang he uses sounds like it's struggling. When he got the Precision for "Octopus" and onwards it's one of the best sounds ever. "Playing The Fool" blew my mind.

My undergrad art-school room-mate was a Gentle Giant fan and played their LP's a lot. I liked it ok, but don't own any myself. Pretty unique music none-the less.

Yep, Jethro, Yes, Pink Floyd, Genesis, Wakeman, Magma and many more.. Not to mention all the good old Finnish prog groups, Tasavallan Presidentti, Wigwam, Kalevala… among others.
And we have not talked about jazz jet…, starting with Weather Report, Return to Forever, Pekka Pohjola, and such
Have to check out National Healt and Hatfield, new to me. Thanks for the tip

Translucent Mary Kay white (not many of those in the club) or Butterscotch blonde. Both those colors would allow the grain to show thru. Then there’s trans red or Fender three tone sunburst.
Back in my first band we always had gag names for everybody, even other neighborhood bands, sometimes local personalities. We were pretty ruthless, lol.
There are a number of replies, but....
G&L has it..... Unfortunately they will not likely be forthcoming with the secret concoction.Gloss trans root beer. That’s the ticket. Now, do they sell that?
