Thunderbird Club

Hawklords!!!!!

I know it's a blasphemy but I actually prefer the Hawklords "25 Years On" to Hawkwind and I also prefer the Hawkwind's Charisma years stuff to their early stuff. Love Robert Calvert's lyrics (he should have collaborated with Blue Öyster Cult, Michael Moorcock did) and delivery.
The Swindell's album is great too, more new wave but still rock. Hawkwind alumni Huw Lloyd-Langton on guitar and Simon King on drums and ex- Van Der Graaf man Nic Potter on bass.

Dang, it’s been almost a year since I got my T.Bird.

So far, I’ve had 3 different types of Ernie Ball round wounds on it: Cobalt Super Slinkys, Nickel Super Slinkys and Nickel Extra Slinkys. I also briefly tried a set of Cobalt Flats. I love Cobalt Flats on my P.Bass,, but to my ears my T.Bird sounds best w/ something round wound.

The Extra Slinkys are my favorite so far. I’m on my second set of those, but they need to be changed, and I wanna break out of my Ernie Ball rut and try something new.

This being the Thunderbird Club, I’m ignoring the search function and putting it out there for what is prolly the millionth time…

What kinda rounds are your favorite?
Hi Albert!

I say to anyone and everyone who’ll listen. Stainless steel is my metal of choice for both ceramic and Alnico magnet equipped Thunderbirds. SIT Power Steels. Dunlop Marcus Miller stainless Superbrights.

1990 Gibson T-Bird Refinished...I like the color! Paint job is rough in spots.

Some nice upgrades:
Lollar Thunderbird pickups
Babicz FCH 3-Point bridge
Hipshot Ultralight (USA) tuners

I started trying to do that some years ago. I gave up by the time I got to the Clash. Too much work.
I did it about a year ago. Was suggested to me in a record store in Sweden when I once again had to call home to check if i had the CD I was looking at or not. It took some weeks to add all my collection into the program, but after that it's been easy and quick to add new purchases.

I’ve been watching that one. It’s got all the upgrades I would do. With the price drop it’s at about what it would cost to buy a beater and fix it up. I love the color.

Those upgrades are pretty much what I have done to each of my Gibson ‘birds, just using a variety of pickups, Lollars (x 2), Novak, Thunderbucker 66’s, Gibson re-issues and Gemini.

Weird gig. Everyone direct, including the house electronic drum set. Seems we played well enough, but not enjoyable. Partly because I was on the floor because of the tiny stage, with people bumping into me on the way to and from the bathroom.

Sorry to hear that. I know when I've been in a weird situation, or things didn't sound right, the fun aspect can easily go out the window. I'm sure you all played very well and made the very best of a less that great situation.
