Thunderbird Club

Dang, it’s been almost a year since I got my T.Bird.

So far, I’ve had 3 different types of Ernie Ball round wounds on it: Cobalt Super Slinkys, Nickel Super Slinkys and Nickel Extra Slinkys. I also briefly tried a set of Cobalt Flats. I love Cobalt Flats on my P.Bass,, but to my ears my T.Bird sounds best w/ something round wound.

The Extra Slinkys are my favorite so far. I’m on my second set of those, but they need to be changed, and I wanna break out of my Ernie Ball rut and try something new.

This being the Thunderbird Club, I’m ignoring the search function and putting it out there for what is prolly the millionth time…

What kinda rounds are your favorite?

Here is my take on the discussion about Rush and Neil Young. I like them both! And to my defence, I like a lot of other artists and styles too too, from jazz and blues, to pop and rock, heavy, prog, folk… What I listen too depends on the time of day, mood, background music or ”listen to music”…

And below the proof that I actually enjoy Neil and Geddy:smug:

Looks a lot like my cd shelves. Huge Yes guy here too.

I dislike your organization. Is there a method beyond putting bands together? Albums need to be sorted first by artist (which you appear to have done) and then by release date. Any deviation from this method is wrong. ;)
I move a handful of vinyl up to the mountain place each trip. I was lax organizing them for a long time. I finally have the ones up there back in alphabetical order by artist and chronological order by release date. I’m about halfway done getting them all moved up.

I suffer from the same disease with you apparently:

I do make exceptions with solo albums:
What is Steve Swindell's 1980 album "Fresh Blood" doing there between Hawkwind/lords and Dick Heckstall-Smith? Well, Steve was Hawklords' keyboard player, that's why. On the other hand he had quit the 'lords at the time of the recording and also should I put the album after the Hawkwind's '79 release "PXR5" as it fits the time frame better? Damn, there goes the good night's sleep again...View attachment 5452601
Hawklords!!!!!

I was in the music store one day and heard someone playing I Think I'm Going Bald and had to go and take a look. It was a kid about 14 and I commented something to the effect of wow, that's a deep cut. The dad jumped in and told me that he insisted that his son would not just learn the 'hits' but all the good songs. He was there buying the son an amp.

Did Kim Mitchell go bald because of the OPP hat or was the OPP hat to cover up the thinning?*

* There is a popular theory that hats cause baldness. When I was in the army, there was a soldier that wanted the army to pay for Rogaine as he claimed that his baldness was a workplace injury caused by the requirement to wear hats...
I started going bald at 19. It wasn't hats.

JIO does Cherie and your band do You Only Live Twice? That's one of my Favorite James Bond films and Movie Sound Track.

Yep - and also "Last of the Secret Agents" by Nancy Sinatra - we do that song in both bands.
