Thunderbird Club

Some here know I’m a fan of @bylar13 ’s band Poppy. This is from the band’s FB page. They’re joining @BklynKen ’s band in Brooklyn on the 21st. I so wish I could be there. Take a lot of pics @JJR58.

“Sunday, 7/21 we travel North, as the shepherds wander in the summertime, to the far off borough of Brooklyn! Its a 4 PM matinee show, at Mama Tried with The James Rocket and Ghosts of Past Mistakes. There is no cover and if the weather cooperates, we will be playing outside. What more could you ask for?!? Well... a lot really but your not going to get it anyway, so you might as well just come out to the show and have beers with us and we can all ponder our futile existences together!”
Daaang! We really need a NE GTG.

We are of a fading generation my friend. It started with having to buy new computers every three years. Then new phones every two years. When was the last time you saw a TV repair shop? I started leasing my cars ten years ago. Get rid of them before anything needs to be repaired.

Guys like @Chucky Stiletti and @Miles_ONeal who know how to fix amps are treasures.
Thanks! Chuck’s the full treasure. I can do all sorts of tube stuff, but only rudimentary solid state.

Yeah, I remember seeing his post on FB about that, but nothing more has come of it. Plus, I like building things, so figure I'd adapt the pedal into a rack version myself. Viva Analog has a forum with suggested mods, but it seems to be down currently, hopefully it will be back up soon. I'd like to add the DI out incorporated in the Dicosimo version to fine

That's what I was thinking, could use the 360+ on the neck pickup of the 4001 and the Ashly on the bridge, as I love the depth but tightness on my 360. I also looked at building the Lab L4 pre that Aion FX has as a rack version, given @PhR75 has talked up the Lab series a lot.
I really want to play a Lab bass amp. The L5 was killer for guitar,

The nature of things...

TSC played a noon-to-2:00 outside gig at a big Farmers Market on the avenues in the Sunset district of SF earlier today. It was sunny/warm in the Mission where I live and the same in Oakland where Kirstin lives, but being relatively close to the ocean, it was foggy and chilly in the Sunset. Not terribly so, but just not warm and sunny. We found out two days ago we would have to provide our own PA mixer. Ok... I visited Guitar Center yesterday and bought a 4 mic mixer on sale. I didn't own one and I didn't want Paul to disrupt our rehearsal-space set-up so I felt it was something I should do. Our drummer Phil has played there in the past and back then it was a more 'pro'-set up with everything provided PA-wise. (it's a civic thing so funding must have been cut) Now - one monitor for all vocals... and then - my amp didn't want to make sound. No clue as everything was as it should be. So... I plugged into my new mixer to the one PA speaker. Being an outdoor, low-key/low volume presentation - ATC it actually sounded good. We could hear each other, the vocals were on top and our audience was in approval. We powered through both sets back-to-back and finished on time. Mission : Accomplished.

I got home, unloaded the Element and tested my amp - worked perfectly as it should. Who knows...
Did you triple check the power cord IEC was fully in? I have a power cord that came with an amp that was fiddly. I bought a new cord an no issues.

Can y'all tell this Beryl dude to move in and move on?

Hate to hear that, but glad you all pulled it off well. No doubt due to the musicianship of those in the band. The worse part for me would be why something didn't work, but later did. That kind of think makes you a little concerned for the next outing. Was it a one off thing and never to happen again? But then the nagging thought lingers that something indeed failed, if just for a while. I hope you get it sorted out. I doubt it would be the case given it was just your amp, but I've had situations where something wasn't working and is was simply we forgot to connect, push a button, run a cable to the jack.... thing. Makes you really feel stupid.

Thanks for the promo!

I did all the trouble-shooting you could do. It powered on (meter light on, fan fanning) and the connection; speaker cord is cab jack / Neutrik speakOn to the amp has no issues. Ghost in the machine.

Never happened like that before - it was a little baffling. In general I'm always relieved when I flip the mute switch and bass sounds comes out. I do bring a small portable back-up amp (250w TC Electronics) occasionally but didn't yesterday. They want us back and considering I got away with sharing one PA monitor w/vocals I'm thinking I could get away with using my bass room/office amp - a small Acoustic B20 1x12. We played pretty respectfully/low volume - so I know the little B20 would do the job. Having never played that event, I didn't know what to expect - it's more like a coffeehouse gig. Live & learn.

Yeah. Like the mute switch mysteriously getting turned on and not realizing it.
