Thunderbird Club

The only thing I can think of is scamming people in the classifieds.
I think anyone on tb should know to contact the member selling there via a PM to confirm it's who you are dealing with. At least I would even though I rarely if ever use that tb section.

Unless I already know them, I don't know how I would do that. The hacker took over the account. When I consider buying in the TB classifieds, I don't do a deep dive into a stranger's posts and then quiz them.

All my transactions in the classifieds have been successful, so far.
But I haven’t done very many.
I think it's highly unlikely such a thing will happen; I just mentioned it as the only likely way I could see anyone benefiting from taking over a TB account. I would hope the vast majority of TBers would not fall for typical phishing bits.

"Hey, man. Our band was on tour in Russia and the KGB take our pessports and wallits. We need $10,000 to get somewhere safes but you need to send it via crypto ATM because the KGB can intersept it evrywhere else."

I didn't imply doing that - just if money will be involved, double checking doesn't strike me as unusual - especially on-line. A simple "is this you" to their PM would suffice.

I was bad today.

...can you say, red-flag? 🧣(or how about red-scarf...)

I went to GC during a run of errands to pick up a speaker patch for a GK MB200- they need Speakon connectors. Naturally I "found myself" wandering into the bass room. And there it was, on clearance.
I ended up bringing in my MIM Jazz to get a price for it. I'd got it cheap, put a new nut on it, and after a few gigs it was turning out I wasn't going to be in love with it.
I traded in the Jazz, they have me a decent deal.
That's it.
I think I'm gonna like this one. Needs a thumbrest... But what doesn't. Right Mike?

You're right to be cautious, I see things here that you guys can't, there are reports of problems with sellers/buyers on a regular basis.

How is this bad?
Well, I'm just in a funny spot in life right now. So being fiscally responsible is, uh, hm. The way. That's it.
But, you know. Screw that. This was a reasonable score, and I've been nagging myself about one for a few years now. I'm a major Cassady fan, love that sound he got with the two amps.
Also it's RED!!
AND that growl with the right setting in the GK is something I'm very much looking forward to hearing.

Fine. It's not a bad thing!
