Yes, with an almost certainly slow rate of return at those prices. Unless one is going to live another 50 yrs maybe. More like for the artist who receives weekly checks the size of most people's quarterly income or more. Good on them for getting there, I wish more could live the dream, but it sure makes vintage instruments unaffordable for most average players. Which is why my '58, '64 Pbasses and '62 J have all have the body professionally refined at some point. Which is fine by me. Made them "reasonable" to justifiable in buying given they are not making me any money via playing.

Oh, and I have a 1971 Jazz with the rare pickup spacing in a custom order black for $25,000 if any one is interested! Even has the covers and original Fender strap. (Everyone here would get the family discount--better than normal price.)

So, to be a pro like you and your daughter, you need to be able to play bass and read both clefs. That concept makes my head hurt.

I can barely read bass clef. Mar can read both as well as alto and tenor clefs...
This piece is relatively easy. Some of the classical the charts will switch key signatures, clefs and time

Mike and Mike’s was astonishingly accommodating. They let us pick up and try everything. They have a blue Mosrite that I could see owning someday, although we were pretty sure it was a reissue, not a Bakersfield buitlt one. They still have to research it to know what it is. It sounded and played great.

Emerald City used to let people like me pick up and play everything. I'm resisting going into Mike & Mike's because this is all the enabling I need right here.

Only other shop like that I've been in is the Chicago Music Exchange - I don't know how big M&M's is but the CME is as architecturally stylish/grand boutique as you get. They handed me a '62 J and left me plugged in to a nice amp in a room by myself.
