Just for a little diversity.
I have an EB-3 coming, that should be diverse enough.

I need one that covers that territory between the pickup and the base of the neck. I need a small slab of plastic about a 1/2" thick x 4" long x 1 1/2" wide. I'll put it through a bandsaw, then sand/chisel the side that sits against the body. I'll mount it like the Zero Mod version, and double-sided tape the other end of it to the side of the neck. Maybe a thin strip of foam padding between it and the body.Zero modification thumb rest for the Casady…

This is one of my JCs with LaBella DTFs, MB200 into 210AV cab:Now wait a minute, you can’t just waltz into this THUNDERBIRD club praise the virtues of the Casady bass then turn around and drop the mic as you walk away! We wanna hear how good it sounds, post that darn video!
Seriously, everybody I know that has the JC bass gushes about how nice it sounds, but I’ve still never actually played or heard one. I’m very JC curious right now.
If it truly sounds as good as everyone claims maybe a JC pup and electronics implant in a Tbird body would be interesting, haven’t seen that done before, and yes, I’d do it if the sound is interesting and useable, I’ve done stranger things to Tbirds.
I thought about driving down to down to look at it. But I have other more immediate wants. They’re rare. I’m not sure if that’s a good price.Good thing it's flat black or I would be suffering from GAS.
This Ric!Maybe a Cassady. Or a Dano lucite Longhorn. Maaaaybe a Rick. But there's a good bit of diversity in Thunderbirds.

This'll take a minute. Meanwhile I'm getting along with it nicely.
Pass. I was just pointing out what looked to be a nice price for what appears to be a nice bass. I need another 7ender like I need a hole in my head. You and Marshall can argue over who gets mine. But to bring balance to the Force, I'll need a Thunderbird from whoever gets it.

my money on P schmoe getting the mullah way before Bird guy does (even if it sells at that price)….But only one Reverse.

Maybe I'll do that. Thanks Ken.Contact the Zero Mod guy if you need a variation on one of his products. I had him make me one for my BC Rich based on an existing one. He was really great to work with.
Do you mean masonite? Not aware of a lucite Dano Longhorn...Maybe a Cassady. Or a Dano lucite Longhorn. Maaaaybe a Rick. But there's a good bit of diversity in Thunderbirds.
Having brokered Daves modded JC, I had it for a short period to study/play. I now have a few hollow-body's, short-scale, medium scale and full-scale. My '68 Custom Kraft is full scale so somewhat similar to the JC. Physically they are both long basses - as long as a T-bird and with big bodies. I can't recall what it weighed, but this one had the two Darkstars which add weight. My CK is 7lbs/8oz and the JC felt heavier than that. They feel big playing them and neck-dive is an issue. The big body helps here as one can anchor it with ones forearm while playing. I only played it briefly through my home amps while checking intonation/action etc so can't say how it sounds live. Irv uses his live so would have insights there. I've used the CK live and as with all hollow-body basses, if you stand too close to your amp it will want to howl if not muting the strings with your hands. Quality of the JC is good and it sounds good. All of my hollow-body basses have pu's in different locations and they all sound different from each other, so it's hard to compare to the JC. The impedance selector & centrally located pu seems ideal for a variety of tonal options. Now wait a minute, you can’t just waltz into this THUNDERBIRD club praise the virtues of the Casady bass then turn around and drop the mic as you walk away! No mute, no covers, dunno about a case. I would have assumed he would mention it if he had the original case or a reissue case. For that price, it ought to have all of those things. And be an exotic color from the factory. And fry me some bacon every morning. But only one Reverse.

If a Ric with a checkerboard binding showed up cheap enough, I might have some GAS. Not that I'm in the market for a Ric. The El Degas scratches that itch just fine. It didn't come out during the GTG. That may have been an unforgiveable oversight on my part.
This is one of my JCs with LaBella DTFs, MB200 into 210AV cab:
The Casady pickup is very deep. I'm not sure if it could go in a regular Tbird body. You would also need to find a place for the impedance matching transformer.
I'd rather have Chuck's Blue one. He did really well. But only one Reverse.

Thanks George!Sounds quite nice all the way up the neck. And of course your impeccable playing doesn’t hurt a bit.
