I agree - everyone should have one P-bass

View attachment 7014667
OK, then everyone should have a Ford Transit Connect. ;)
EDIT: I'm fully aware that the P is an iconic instrument heard on millions of recordings, and played by countless bassists-including some of my favorites-but I see absolutely no point in investing in an instrument I have neither the interest or the cash to own. In the extremely unlikely event that I should ever be called on to do a recording session and the engineer said something like "You hafta play a P bass-that's what I'm set up for", my reply would be "No. Learn to adjust".

Pardon this brief detour, but [DETOUR/member-@°√÷÷§¥=whatever_Count Bassie] some of us here are also fans of the Epiphone Cassady Signature, Epiphone's rendition of the Les Paul Studio Signature.
I just wanted to say that after deciding to pull it back down off the *for sale* block, and sell it to myself (with a generous payment plan), I'm coming to really like this bass.
I need to invent a thumb rest for it, and I'm getting the concept, which I'll share when it's done. But the forward, gnarly, throaty growl of this bass is a really good feature that I'm believing can be brought into line with some judicious eq.
The Earthmen played a gig last Saturday and got it on vid... The pickup and impedance selector put this puppy right up front in the mix. Which is great! Because instead of trying to get it to cut through, I can tame it back a bit and actually put it where I want it in the sonic field. I love that. It'll take some playing time, but what a cool feature to have. I'm really liking it, it's fun to play too.
And it looks cool...[DETOUR/end]

Ok, now back to THUNDERBIRD content. 🙂
What is this bass heresy of which you speak? We never are distracted by lesser topics and ever and only praise Thunderbirds here.

Anyone buy that?

I've always been intrigued but the JCs. I don't think I ever played one. Might be a good thing for my wallet.

Excellent Irv! Looks to likely be from the initial run with the slab body. Adding a cut is child’s play for someone with your skill. hopefully the neck is sound. You’ll enjoy it; BaCH necks are nice.

Will you be painting it Blue?
Actually it has the belly cut.

Yes it's a bit of a risk in that the neck might have an issue. I'll get it in hand before pestering Rob with questions about how a partially built one got out. :D
Being unfinished will make it a bit easier if I have to reset the neck or take off the fingerboard. I'll be assembling it first to see how the neck behaves under tension.

I'm leaning toward Kerry Green.

Now wait a minute, you can’t just waltz into this THUNDERBIRD club praise the virtues of the Casady bass then turn around and drop the mic as you walk away! We wanna hear how good it sounds, post that darn video!

Seriously, everybody I know that has the JC bass gushes about how nice it sounds, but I’ve still never actually played or heard one. I’m very JC curious right now.

If it truly sounds as good as everyone claims maybe a JC pup and electronics implant in a Tbird body would be interesting, haven’t seen that done before, and yes, I’d do it if the sound is interesting and useable, I’ve done stranger things to Tbirds.

Zero modification thumb rest for the Casady…

Did they get the crane operator's seat cleaned up OK? :woot:
The crew put a pair of shorts in a frame with a sign that said "In case of earthquake, break glass." I don't know the condition of the seat. I think the crane driver lost a few pounds in the process, though. So there's that.

I have a Transit Connect, so got that covered, too.

All in fun... saying "everyone needs a P-bass" is like saying, "everyone needs _________" :)

If I get anything besides Thunderbirds, their sibling Cassady is one of the most likely candidates.
