Thunderbird Club

Not a Tbird, but Gibson content:
My first outing with the Ripper was accompanying my daughter on a classical bass duet.
If you're interested my part starts about 45:20.

This is beautiful Irv.
And you definitely got that upright tone going on that Ripper.
So awesome to see and hear the both of you playing together.

The green looked rock and roll!
...more Creature of the Black Lagoon!

Thinking of some "rock" flatwounds to put on my 'Bird, to complement my round-wearing Rickenbacker and Steinberger. I'm down to La Bella 760FL, Rotosound RS77LD, and Alice A629 (sort of a more scooped, lower tension RS77 on a budget). My heart says Rotosound, but my wallet says Alice. Any nsights?
Roto 77s are nice. Consider Ernie Ball Colbalt Flats.

Was it the ogling thing again?
It's called obsession... :) Actually I have used this cologne for years - The Mermen have a song (tongue in cheek) called "Obsession for Men" and before I made this connection I wondered about their sexual preference.

Interestingly enough, I was at this show and Allen Whitman was playing his "Abalone Daze" P-bass I gilded for him in this vid. First time I've seen this vid. 11 years ago - time sure is fun when you're having flys...

OfM - 6:36 Marshall - if you can't tell - Neil Young is one of MM guitarist Jim Thomas's fave guitarists - him and Jimmy Hendrix.

I saw/heard them recently here in SF at The Chapel - like Neil has at times, Jim is going deep ultra-sonic these days. Their oft played "surf" songs are foundations for his sonic extrapolations. It allows a recognizable 'base' for him to launch waves of feedback, distortion and a blanket of sonic mayhem. Hard to describe - you have to be there. They just played at the Golden Gate Bandshell (in the background) where BG played earlier this year.

Very cool! Have you-or anyone here-ever tried the electric bow thingy like Jimmy Page used to use.?

You need a curved fb ideally - otherwise it's just show-biz stage-craft. (oooow, Jimmy Page played his guitar with a bow... ooooow)

edit: I misunderstood... as later pointed out, an e-bow. Although JP also used a violin bow...
