On the health-front... a few weeks ago, my wife had scheduled her thyroid cancer surgery for the 8th of May and obviously that date has come and gone. We had met with the surgeon and the plan was to remove half of the thyroid and we felt comfortable with this Dr. since he was recommended from my wife's friend who is also an MD.
No sooner had we left that Dr.'s office, my wife started talking about having another biopsy and letting another lab look at the results. Fast forward through those new appointments and the lab results from a different lab show nothing abnormal and we got that news just yesterday. Obviously we are thrilled for this news but it also means that into the future she'll need to been tested periodically to insure that the thyroid is stable. Fingers are crossed.

Larry, while I'm new here, and don't know you or your wife, this made me so happy to read. I've been around a lot of cancer lately and I know how harrowing and frightening and awful it is. Which is why it's so wonderful to read posts like this. Best wishes to your gal!

Why is the second opinion more credible than the first? Seems like a third would be warranted to break the tie. I say this having experienced multiple biopsies. Also, since there was 'nothing abnormal' about the second biopsy why get tested in the future? I'm not saying active surveillance is a bad thing but from your post I'm inferring the only reason for that is a biopsy you've decided was incorrect. Or is thyroid testing SOP in women's health?

The first biopsy indicated an abnormal level of certain "markers" that indicate the thyroid may be producing cancerous cells. The meetings with the Dr.'s post first biopsy had the Dr.'s always saying that we should remove at least half "just to be safe" and then they could send the piece that was removed to the lab to be further analyzed. This left my wife questioning whether to have the surgery at all and as I said earlier, she chose more testing. First biopsy took samples from 4 places. the second took samples from 6. The results were sent to a lab in California that specializes in this sort of testing. The result this time was negative but with the advice to continue monitoring.
I completely understand your point and I too felt the same way initially thinking, Ok, who's right, Lab 1 or Lab 2? We're hopeful Lab 2 is but we know it may not be over.

What makes them cool is that they're super flat, super flexible and super short, which is exactly what I was looking for. They're not quite on the market yet, but they hooked me up. Pics of the pedal board once I get it all plugged up. That may take a little while. All my gear is at the practice room as I've recently moved and I'm recovering from a sprained wrist. On top of that, our drummer broke his wrist a couple weeks ago. Just a little delay.
