I would think you could leave out the switch just fine - unless you also move the jack to side, then you could always fill the old input hole on the front with a toggle/kill switch...

So did you add the 3 way switch as well on your Epi? I kinda want to avoid adding a switch, but can work with it if I need to.

Originally I was going to move the jack to the side but since this has a momentary switch that you have to hold to kill the signal added to the face already (why you would add one like that is beyond me) I changed plans a little. I want to remove the switch and jack and route for a strat-type input that will cover the spots of both existing holes and it will tidy up that control area. Then I will install the TBX in the tone spot to see how it sounds. Later I may change the layout to a stacked vol/vol/, TBX, kill switch because I really do like having that ks option. I will post pictures of the before/after of the controls once the new jack is installed. Looking forward to testing out that TBX![]()
I reckon second hand Birds just got more expensive here.
I thought all Thunderbirds from Gibson and Epiphone had tilt back headstocks. Is that not the case?
I ordered a TBX pot after reading about the uses here. I have a Jazz Special so I am already familiar with it, but never would have thought to try it on the Epi Birds. I'm going to install it in my new-to-me sunburst Epi. I will let you know my thoughts after I do it.
Thanks, Hillerup. I never noticed that angle before.
