Thanks. It really is. Top tier just below my '64 Thunderbird. I like it better with the Ampeg head (so far anyway), but it sounds great with the Ashdown. Great to play as well. The neck feels something like a big Jazz or small Pbass. Never felt one like it.
My guitarist friend Reid owns a number of cool vintage G&L guitars and a black early '80s L1000. He lives in Madison now but I used to play his L1000 occasionally and it was cool. I might have posted this here before for you, but I did a drawing of the passive wiring schematic of his L1000.

Nice!

I will say that the L1000 sounds different, i.e., better than any L2k I have played with neck pickup only. I use passive 97% of the time. I don't know what is different, but there is clearly a difference. Which I guess is playing a part in me considering selling the Blackburst L2k, rare as it is.

you hear gauchos yell at each other in Welsh when rustling cattle on horseback in parts of the Pampas and then jump right to Spanish….pretty trippy.
Awesome trip report, thank you, sounds like you did and saw lots! Interesting comment about the light….always looks somewhat different south of the equator….hard to pinpoint what it is but….
Yes, my Dad said that his GFather (1st Gen Aust) used to command the farm dogs in Irish. Learnt from his father I guess (the one that migrated here).
Sounds fantastic. Happy you were able to go and have that experience.

The connection with Ireland may be in part company/work related. A number of companies here have offices there due to the business friendly climate (non-punitive corporate tax rate there). People here like to go there and work for a few years and come back. Win/win for everyone. I knew a lady that did that for a while, but don't know where she worked/lived while there.
Good point.
I did a quick (70-80mins) “Viking Splash Tour” (in WW2 DUKV) in Dublin and the guide pointed out a lot of HQs for US (or Multinational) Companies in Dublin. For: 1 the tax break & 2 the EU address.

Which should bring in a good sum, forming a solid foundation for buying a '64 bird as my birthday present, preciousss!

Interesting. Same sort of thing is said about Fender P/J's, and T-bird II's & IV's. I know my Tele2K Mk II intimately and continue to feel it's the best 'all-around' passive/active bass I've ever owned/played.., and I'm not alone in feeling that way. (about an L2K) I've never compared it to my '66 P or T-bird II, but I can cop a sound/tone very close to it if needed. (hum-bucker vs single-coil etc) Speaking of the L2K 'passive' setting - one reason I really like the L2K (electronics) is that it sounds just as good active as passive, and I use all settings giving me a wide variety of voicing's.

Sure you don't have any Viking heritage?
