That L1000 is sweet!I used this at practice last night. Not a thing wrong with it, it's just doesn't seem like something I've got have any more. Sounds good with both amps (not Thunderbird good), plays great, but it's beginning to feel like I could live without it. Might try a string change and see if that ups the desire to keep it. I don't want to sell it and then miss it, but I not sure I would. Decisions. (I'm not fishing for a buyer, just thinking out loud. But it is much less than a '64 Thunderbird!!!)

This on the other hand is going no where.

many disregard the strength of their catholic roots….Millions of Irish immigrated to the US, and many of them and their descendants backed what became the Republic of Ireland in their fight against British rule with moral support, political pressure, and money. Northern Ireland had its backers, too, but the Republic felt they had more to celebrate and include us in that celebration.
Nope. No such thing.There's an un-cool T-Bird?
What a unique and awesome build!Just posted this in the Luthiers Corner:

Here's round two of my 1965 Gibson Fenderbird. I demo the mudbucker and the bass now has its own neck. Little correction I used 2000 grit on the headstock not 200![]()

It’s OT people so skip if you like.
Very glad I did it. Keen to do more in London and the UK, and France. I got to like Paris overall.
London was completely different and yet completely familiar and comfortable. I can see how people from London and Sydney can migrate and be comfortable in the other. I used ‘the tube’ a lot, it is a very good system.
Paris was more different of course. But I got to like it quickly and then did 4 days in Brittany.
I Enjoyed Dublin and Ireland - beautiful countryside. Ireland is a very convenient size, big enough to have a fair trip but small enough that you could do most of it from a couple of ‘base camps’ and do day trips. The land either side of the Shannon River in Limerick and Clare I found really nice. Whether that was because a whole raft of ancestors came from that regionI don’t know.
The trip was maybe a little long, but conversely it wasn’t long enough to do everything.
Some highlights:
Guinness in Paris at an Irish pub at Sacré Coeur. Guinness in Dublin. A Kilkenny in Kilkenny listening to a trad Irish duo in a pub - yes they did Whiskey in the Jar, and a Murphys in Ennis Co. Clare.
I funny one, attending Catholic Mass in France. Obviously I only undertood “Amen” “Alleluia” and “Hallelujah” but it was an experience. At the first one, a robed choir leader, a black Frenchwomen, got up and lead the opening hymn - WOW! Could she sing! I didn’t recognise the hymn but with her leading and conducting the congregation with arm movements it was huge. It was like Les Misérables.
Same again the next week at Sacré Coeur but an older Nun leading, same hymn as far as I could tell. Great, but I’ll give the nod to the first one at the Chapel of the Miraculous Medal.
Surprises:
The agressive nature of the beggars in a couple of spots in Paris.
The number of homeless / begging in Dublin.
How expensive Dublin was.
How linked Ireland is to the US. Lots of buildings, Hotels and pubs even that fly the American flag as well as the Irish Tricolour. The EPIC Museum of the Irish migration had a big focus on US people of Irish heritage, but then again, that’s where the numbers are - there are more to be pointed to.
Surprised that Che Guevara was nominated as a prominent person of Irish heritage, Che Guevara Lynch and that there are more than a million Argentinians of Irish heritage.
But it is nice to be home. The flight back is a shockerand the light / sunshine here is a bit different to Europe. Both beautiful though.
ha!…the whole time I was trying to figure out what OT meant….obrigado.The only thing off-topic is that you didn't talk about cars.
Thanks. It really is. Top tier just below my '64 Thunderbird. I like it better with the Ampeg head (so far anyway), but it sounds great with the Ashdown. Great to play as well. The neck feels something like a big Jazz or small Pbass. Never felt one like it.That L1000 is sweet!![]()
It's an irrelevant term here.ha!…the whole time I was trying to figure out what OT meant….obrigado.
I questioned my sanity as well.I have wanted to put a mudbucker into a Thunderbird for years. Now I really, really want to do it. Thanks. That sounds especially good with both. I thought you were nuts for buying that body, but I sure was wrong. It is great.
