I'll take a picture of my Ram with a Thunderbird when it gets above freezing. There's a massive inversion here, our air is even worse than L.A. BTW, my Ram was built in Mexico
I'm back in Lima for a few weeks and reunited with my non-reverse T-bird, it plays even better than I remember. I have everything I need to play here except a cord.

Some players just don't consider aesthetics important.Personally I always find basses with both chrome and plastic pickups awkward looking, but as Mike says "tweetchie zone"
The build was based on a custom Hamer that Tom Peterson owned as well as another Hamer 8 that had the paddle headstock. This is the link to the original Hamer that the seller used to own and based his build on. It has a lot of idiosyncrasies because Hamer would give the players many of the custom features the player wanted, sometimes to good effect and sometimes not. That blue finish on the current one for sale looks amazing to me.

And our nice car is a truck (small school bus) as well. This one actually been tuned for more HP.

Ugly is subjective. Many people consider a player-worn/road-worn bass 'ugly'. I'm not one of those people, but there are plenty of ugly guitars & basses right out of the box out there. But I agree - as an instrument is meant to be played and not put on a pedestal and fetishized... an instrument that plays well and sounds good regardless of the way it looks is optimal.
My 5er holds 8.Today only (until it repeats), MF sale on Hercules 5 guitar/bass stand (with bits to hold 6 or 7). I love mine. It holds Thunderbirds just fine.

Objective for me! I know it when I see it.
I don't mind player wear on something old. But it looks out of place on something 5 yrs old. But that's just me. Take Hofner Violin basses To me they look awful, no, stupid. However, if I played one and it was more amazing than an old Thunderbird and a Pbass combined, I would likely play one. It's been so long since I played one I have no idea what they sound like in person. Hofners I would like to own are the Club and President. For me, the Violin bass is like finger nails on a chalkboard with a tongue on a 9v battery. An old beat up and well played P or J. I love it.
