Thunderbird Club

Just got some hostage photos from the seller of the Fernandes Tbird I bought on eBay (thx again Andy for the heads up). It won’t be here for a few more weeks but it has some interesting features. No experience with Fernandez or Burny basses so I hope it’s a good player, if not, I’ll make it one.

Love the pink sparkle and the neck volute…

Great idea on the string through body design to eliminate anchor pulling and silk or windings on the saddles…

Can’t tell for sure but the headstock looks nearly as big as the VP…

Neck through or set neck with the strap pin in the right place…

Looks like an amazing find. Glad she's going to a good home. The string-through body took me by surprise but I like it.

They're set neck, I had one and it was okay, not great. Build quality was fine, the pickups were a bit bland, the headstock was just stupid big, kinda like a VP but wider - and since the body is light it really did want to dive a bit. It had a notable dead spot at Fs on the E string which TBH I found odd and not fixable, I did put some Nickel covers I got from Mike Lull on the pickups after I skinned the black plastic off of them.

Loud and live with it a long time ago.

pretty awesome .....so cool that we have alll these clips of bass guitars/amps we always talk about readily available for our viewing/enjoyment....different string, amp, genre combinations where we can somewhat see how something may work out us, thx for posting.

So, I’m hoping to pull the trigger on a reasonably price Greco TB900. I noticed on eBay that there appear to be multiple sellers selling the same bass, usually out to Japan. Are they brokers or is this a scam? Anyone have any experience?
Been looking for some time. Tried to buy one a couple weeks ago for $990 delivered. It was super clean with bridge cover. It was pulled off the market. The ones I see now are $1400 and have lots of dings.

While I haven't bought any basses from them, in my experience Japanese ebay sellers are on another level in terms of service and communication. I've even had a couple include handwritten thank you cards and message me weeks after a transaction to make sure everything was to my liking. Shipping might take a while though.

I thought that was Idol’s drummer!
It was an incredible night Miles. He and Jorgen locked in as you would expect. He is a great drummer. Perfect on every song. Ringoesque. Which surprised me a bit, but I don’t know why. Maybe because I’m used to drummers way overplaying.

He lives a few streets east of me. He has posted pictures of his home studio. I’ll try and find them. I have encountered him a couple times in the village market, not knowing who he was. Striking appearance, but friendly and humble. I am happy he’s a neighbor.

My Greco came directly from Japan, the seller shipped it Air Freight, had it in two days - That was more than 10 years ago, but was a perfect sale.

Yeah I think it depends a lot on which service they use. I've had things show up in days, others after weeks. It's usually little collectibles for me though, so I'm not gonna complain too much about having to wait 14 days on a little plastic nicknack I paid less than $30 for.

A lot of the time you end up with some interesting Japanese Newspapers (wadded up to use as packing material) to look at too.

But, people living in non-fire hazard areas are footing the bill. Don’t even start on insurance rates.
The Bako house increased in value by approximately 10% in 30 days per the real estate sites. For what that’s worth. Because it is in a safe fire area. The market is expected to explode this year as thousands look for affordable places relatively close to L.A. while rebuilding. Which will take years.
