Thunderbird Club

Ok. You said tone doesn’t do much. Doesn’t cut treble or never has treble?
Increases treble a bit. Or maybe it’s that the lows and low mids are so clear that the high mids don’t sound as big. The sound is like no other bass I have. I’ll do some recording this week. Likely mic the B-15.

I'll check them again, but Ive tried a couple orders. They are also sized for string diameter somewhat, and I thought I had them in descending size order.

Still likely going to get a better example, as it is pretty sloppy, like the tuners And may go chrome hardware. Long way from having to decide yet.
You can always file them down to match, it’s an easy job. I did it on my -90 to get the action a little lower. Just remember to check often, so you don’t file off too much.

Nice!

I’m getting to know the EB ‘13 that I picked up from George last week. Love the DeCola’s.

I've always really liked Gibson's yellow/red/black burst, it looks great on that bass - they should be doing it on Birds.

I just bought some 9mm stainless rod to make a new longer endpin for my half size upright. I drilled a few holes about 3mm deep for the locking bolt to go into. It wasn't as difficult to drill as I thought.
Oil, and going slow... Yeah I'll make a mod bar. Got a new set of SITs to try out, I better get it done.

That may be the world’s cleanest 60 year old cavity. As AC/DC would say, “She keeps her motor clean”.

Great to see it on a stand in its new home vs in the case here. Carrie was bummed when she realized which bass I sold. Like V she likes the Gibby Three Tone Sunburst much more than standard Tobbaco Burst.

Completely agree and one of the reasons I did this…

Just seems so ‘60’s and ‘70’s to me, reminds me of all the guitars I saw and drooled over in the stores as a kid. The (remotely Fenderish) NR shape lends itself well to the TTSB not sure if the Reverse would look as nice.

On a related note, I’m still kicking around different finish options for my new Reverse WarBird build (all black hardware and pups, vintage tinted maple/maple black block and binding neck) was thinking a pearl Ghost burst would be unique…

simply cannot say enough about this bass...
went through the Little Markbass 800 and a Markbass 2x10" 8 Ohm (500W) box last night ...both pups pretty much dimed the whole time and only messed with the tone knob to add edge when needed....pick all night....sheer joy, the P never left the car.....:bassist:

Greco IV with a Bad Bird?

Just wondering if anyone happens to know what may have become of Killer Kane’s Thunderbird? I’m hoping it’s being used by someone in a band someplace that draws inspiration from The New York Dolls.

IIRC, he had at least two back in the day. Including a white one. It has been years since I watched the well done documentary about him. I don’t recall if what happened to them is mentioned. But if you’re a fan, and never saw it, look it up.
