Yes, me too. It's crazy the number of businesses who do not return calls or reply to email. It's better to briefly give a potential or current customer a No, or we can't help than to tick one off.I’m glad to know they gave you the courtesy of the reply.
OK. Going to have to try a set!Dark and thunderous...if they can make my E1 sound that way, TB+ should be scary.
The question wasn't in their SOP...Yes, me too. It's crazy the number of businesses who do not return calls or reply to email. It's better to briefly give a potential or current customer a No, or we can't help than to tick one off.

Given they are TB+ (of some version), I think they would sound great. As long as you aren't going for John Entwistle tone. How do you think those would sound on a Classic Pro?
I can get pretty close to that from the Thunderbucker VP and the Grecos.Given they are TB+ (of some version), I think they would sound great. As long as you aren't going for John Entwistle tone.

It’s funny how that works. Gibson bought Mesa and negativity started raining down on them. But know what? Call them, leave a message, and the call is returned that day or the following business day. Same thing with emails.Yes, me too. It's crazy the number of businesses who do not return calls or reply to email. It's better to briefly give a potential or current customer a No, or we can't help than to tick one off.
Only while driving a Thunderbird. Now I’m wondering if the Thunderbirds ever played Thunderbirds.

Nothing photoshop can’t solve. The challenge is on, there’s gotta be a bird brain in this club with photoshop skills.
Congrats on the NBD!Alright Thundernerds, you win. Got an Epiphone '60s Thunderbird last week and loooooove it. I'd been eyeing them for a while but had never had a chance to play one. I saw a used one (that looks practically unused) hanging in a local shop, tried it, and immediately bought it. I'm surprised at how light and balanced it is. And, of course, it sounds like rock n roll.![]()
Exactly same experience I had with my first Thunderbird purchase back in 2015.Gimme a minute
After playing/buying this one I feel like everything I've ever heard about Thunderbirds is wrong haha
Hey thank you! Yeah, I'd love a number

I think we should have a "caption this photo" contest. I never fail to smile when I see it.
what year is it?Gibson and Epi should call it something like a "meandering spec" and sell it as a feature.
Fwiw my Gibson NR is desceptively light.
Great observations! Always interesting to hear others likes and dislikes when it comes to bass sounds. Strings do make a huge difference on the sound of any given bass and unfortunately no one string is the perfect match for every bass, so we all go through the string swap game until we find what we like.I finally got around to listening with JBL Live Buds, 1 time ambient mode, 1 time noise canceling, once again ambient:
1. P sound, good for old school
2. Like
3. Like a lot
4. OK
5. Like a lot
6. Nope
7. Nope at first, moved to ok, then good
8. Ok, moved to good
9. Ok, moved to good
10. Ok
My ratings are Like a lot, like, good, ok, and Nope.
Surprised that the 2017 VP didn't score higher but it was in the top 3, but then I love mine which has stock strings, so probably the Fender strings impacted it, will try DRs when they die (Sunbeams or Pure Blues).
Also surprised I found the Eppi '64 only ok, given some here love it.
George tribute to 66 NR was a favorite, as was the Gibson NR '22. One had ProBuckers, one Gibson reissues.
Also good was the Blingbird and Goth.
I would also like to hear Greco, CP, '63-5 reverse and ceramic PUP to compare. I have a VP with cobalt flats, and like it a lot.
Such a timeless look!Hey thank you! Yeah, I'd love a number

I briefly had LaBella Black tapes on my 2012 CP (the year with the neck pup closer to the bridge) and it sounded fantastic! I only took them off because another bass needed them more. I’ll probably put some tapes or EBCF strings back on it when I have spare time.I can get pretty close to that from the Thunderbucker VP and the Grecos.
I like the CP for what it is; if it can be even more of that, I'm interested.
Gotta love the Goths! Cap that mamma and throw some EBCF strings on it for pure bliss. It’s bass number 9 in my ten bird shoot out and to my ears is easily in the top three of the bunch. My two.
I resisted the Goth because I’d heard they were gimmicky rubbish basically. I found one too cheap to resist and bought it sight unseen. I strung it up with DR Hi Beams, plugged it in and loved it. It was the sound from my head. I’ve not regretted buying it for a minute.View attachment 7167480
Say it ain't so!I wasn't going to be a bad influence![]()
I would love to hear that. As you know I almost pulled the trigger on a Greco. Still may if a few basses sell (the economy and local cheapskates not helping). It's not worth trying to ship $500 or less basses (or sub $1,000 basses for that matter).Great observations! Always interesting to hear others likes and dislikes when it comes to bass sounds. Strings do make a huge difference on the sound of any given bass and unfortunately no one string is the perfect match for every bass, so we all go through the string swap game until we find what we like.
The North ‘66 NR Tribute was a fun build that met or exceeded most of my tone goals. The unique control wiring might play a small part, but I think the Wenge neck selection really made it stand out in sound from the already stellar VP. Even though it has the exact same pickups and pup locations as my VP and identical strings, it sounds drastically different to my ears (tone wood possibly???) I’m not sure I have the best strings for it yet, I’d like to put some stock Eppi VP strings on it, I loved those, and I’m sure it would be a killer with EBCF strings as well.
Thanks for listening and providing feedback.

I could post a quick side by side sound sample of the CP with I don’t recall which Strings vs a Greco IV with boomers. If it’s of any help.
