Thunderbird Club

Well, for sure at 7ender. My '77 is about as well built an instrument as could be expected all those years ago. Solid, yet very light. Even with the large headstock and big tuners. Sometimes it's good to be lucky. Or lucky for it to be good.
I have 75 and 76 Gibsons, both have alder bodies with maple necks, and volutes. They are definitely different from 60's Gibsons, but nice instruments.

This was the "Norlin" era at Gibson and the mid '70s wasn't always considered the "high point" of U.S. manufacturing.

You don't say!

My situation is the opposite, everyplace we place has FOH, I will never haul a PA or do sound - it isn't worth it.
The places we play are relatively small(my Rumble 100 is plenty); we rarely have a stage, just a corner of the room; plus it's bring our 'stuff' or give up show biz.

I kinda need that kind of in-ears. Selective hearing loss can be useful, until you find out that it isn't so selective any more.
I'm learning to say "Huh?" in 3 languages(bedsides English): Espanol [my keyboard doesn't have the "~" to put over the "n"], Creole, and Yiddish.

Wanna trade? Everywhere I play has no FOH, so I haul the PA and do sound. There's only been about three times I have played through somebody else's PA and with somebody else running sound that I can think of in the last five years or so.
Last time we had sound-and sound people-provided was 2015.

I get it, maybe that wasn't the best word, but those who have both would likely say side by side they are not quite as bold (or some other word) as the 60s. True of mine. This is not a ding, they are just different and do their own thing--very well I would add. I love them. Mine sounds great. Not as great as the 64, however, but still great. Something extra going on there with the 60s. But absolutely nothing wrong with the sidewinders in my world.
Old growth mahogany.
