Yes, there were plenty around here that's for sure. But there were a lot of AMCs around here. Must have been a good market for them.

You’re bigger, younger, and stronger than I am. I am really noticing a decrease in strength lately. Especially since I broke my ankle summer of ‘23. Gotta admit that when I got the Subway 410 in ‘21, at 56 pounds, it felt light. At least compared to what I played out with back in the seventies/early eighties. Not so much anymore. The Berg NV 610 at 92 pounds is barely manageable. But the form factor makes it transportable by one person. For now.

I’ll start looking for a project this time next year as that is when I think I may hang up the clampdown. I may be looking to a GR cab when the time comes. Expensive. But half the weight and (almost) comparable tone.

I’m old school and like the big stuff. But the older and weaker I get, it really doesn’t make sense for me with the lighter options available today.

All that said, if a decent deal came up for an ACC 360 rig, I’d probably get it for the basement. Just because.

I've started working on upper body strength at the gym at work once a week. Slow going because ... once a week (I'm only downtown twice a week). The biking has helped my lower half stay strong, but I realized I was really neglecting my upper self. Need to work on core a bit, too.

FYI, although it’s not a NEO cabinet, the SVT212AV is not a heavy cabinet, and it’s surprisingly easy to manage. I think it’s the most compact 2x 12” can you could find.

Not like me. I’d feel fortunate if I got back 2/3 of what I spent, and it will probably be closer to 1/2 what I’ve spent.

OTOH, maybe I’ll end up financially ok and just be able to keep it all. Drag out and cycle through a library of quality basses and amps over the years and then let my niece and nephews sell it off to supplement their needs when I’m gone.

Learning Tommy Shannon's version of "The Sky Is Crying" has taken me the better part of a year to play halfway competently.

His playing is incredible. And he gets/got little recognition for how good he really was/is. Talk about an underappreciated player. Quite the career as well. Playing with Johnny Winter and then later SRV is pretty impressive.

I can't believe I never saw him even once.

Sorry to hear that. I've said before, the first time I saw him I was blow away like never before or since. It was unreal and it wasn't the drugs and drink that night. Well, not much. After he played, I didn't know what to think other than, Wow!. I've never seen a musician in such control of his instrument and as corny as it sounds, truly one with it. Second time I knew what to expect and wasn't disappointed.

I use the taps a little bit but not much. Typically I’m on the deepest darkest setting on that bass and soloing the neck pickup.

I wasn’t asked, but will chime in anyway.

Taps off, full humbucker mode, it sounds closest to my ‘21 NR with the Gibson vintage reissues. But the pickups are way hotter so eq adjusted accordingly. Bridge on, neck off, it is close to a 7ender PJ. Both on, it sorta does a J thing, but without the honk. Sorta like the tone from my Foundation with the superferrites. Those are the three settings I go back and forth with. Amp eq works well to flavor the tones.

So in thinking about it all, I f only one bass, one amp, and one cab, it would be the ‘15, the TT800, and the Subway 410 because that combination is the most versatile among what I have.

But no, I’m not selling any of my other stuff. The Ampeg/berg setup is its own thing.

Lucky here too, 5 times for me on four different tours, and the first time was at Santa Cruz Civic Auditorium? Like a high school gym sized place. (1984?) 15 feet from him the entire show, he blew off the guitar twice and just froze, staring at it momentarily figuring where to jump back in with the band. He beat the s--- out of the guitar on the floor that night, was more careful with it at the other shows I experianced later on.

I first saw him right after the first album was released, as I recall. No beating guitars on the floor. But the guitars likely felt just as bad as hard as he played them.

believe it or not, that car was supposed to have a rotary motor that GM reneged on last minute forcing AM to shoehorn one of their sixes....underdog merger between Nash and Hudson UBER cool.....60's AMC performance cars are in their own category.....

When we got Attila, we didn’t live together yet, so from 3 months old, he was shuttled from San Mateo to SF every two weeks. I don’t think he ever “liked” it, but he tolerated and didn’t appear stressed (which would have stressed me).

Now that we live together, his car rides are down to about only 2-3 times a year, when we come up here and the annual vet checkup. He complains a little more, but once we’re on the road he curls up in his crate and (appears to) sleep.

We love him more than there are words.

I use Paul Wolfe as a source for online bass lessons. He has a catalog of Tommy Shannon stuff.

My main “teacher” is Greg at Greg’s Bass Shed. He’s a fan as well.

I just assumed any 2015 owner would respond....thanks for your input. Mine will cop a Jazz bass vibe, but I've never liked the Jazz thing.

You need a 360. You have experienced one now, so you know. I got lucky when mine popped up about 15 years ago. The amp I probably shouldn't have let go was a 320/408 stack that is bigger than a 360 stack but has a lighter weight cabinet and is a bit more versatile. A bit. I got some kind of special edition Ric in trade for that amp, which I promptly sold and turned into a Thunderbird and cash. So it worked out OK.

I started earlier this month, do you cover yours?

No. I went in last weekend. It was cold below six inches. Covering it would get me a few weeks at the beginning and at the end which is Labor Day. I’m too lazy to mess with covering it.

I’m going to start “opening” mine this weekend. But it may be raining and cold so I may have to wait. I’m having a stabilizer issue; I may need to do a drain and refill. We’ll see. Jeez. The price of chemicals……I dropped 5 Benjamins last Sunday at the local shop…

We need a redeck and plaster. If we decide to keep the place (the Medicare hit may well make us decide to keep it) that will happen next year or the year after that. It was built in ‘97 and has served us remarkably well. But nothing lasts forever. Except Thunderbirds.

Our son and daughter are feeling guilty about not recognizing our Fortieth Anniversary last June. They asked if there was anything we needed. I suggested they could look at one of the new robot pool skimmer/sweepers. So…..maybe?

I can not imagine not having a pool.
