Had a BA II on it, so 5 from from that alone. I assume some kind of Fender bridge was on it as well...and every other bridge ever made.

Oh, it had a Jazz pickup (at least one) in at some point.
I still have my one and only bass lesson. Anyone know the song--without playing it?I had a similar experience when I was just starting. I went in for the one and only lesson I ever had and the "teacher" asked what kind of songs I wanted learn?
I said Sex Pistols.
He countered with Hotel California.
I continued to "negotiate" and said how about teaching me theory (I did not know what that meant).
He wrote out a whole bunch of stuff on music paper, handed it to me and told me to "learn all of that" and come back when I had.
I never went back.
I don't know scales or really that much other than notes. I keep meaning to get to a teacher and get focused but since I only play original music, I simply write my own stuff and then teach it to other people in bands, add their contributions and then we have "songs."

I'd mentioned that the gig we did Friday, 4/25/25, was too tight on space to use the TBird. This is an old pic-taken by the drummer-of the band "area". The PA(that tower thingy)and I needed to switch positions. [yes, "that's me in the corner"] The waitresses need unblocked access to the doors to my left.

I had not heard this until today, great cover of one of Elton's best songs by Metallica, well worth the watch!
It's been through a few bridges and pickups. I like basses that have had a full life!

Your band needs a more descriptive name - how about “Dave and the Half Pints”
Never was a huge EJ fan, I liked a lot of his music but it really just wasn’t the type of music I was into when he was at the peak of his popularity (yellow brick road, caribou ranch… era). But that song(s) was always my favorite of his.
It was a pretty far departure from most of his other songs (crocodile rock, YBR, your song, Benny and the jets…) which were more bubble gum pop than rock to me. And as far as the Metallica performance, I’d have to agree with Elton when the camera panned to him in the audience and he said “Amazing”. It’s a fantastic cover and every bit as good (maybe even better) than the original. Thx for posting!
I was never a Metallica fan - I could never hear the bass.
The early Elton John stuff with Dee Murray however has killer bass playing:

The Fretless Scroll Bass now has a TB+ pickup and Black Beauty strings (sounds phenomenal)…
And the Mustang bass now has a 760ProBucker in it for a sweet sounding Tbird vibe in short scale…

They screwed up and showed the bass played a few times. At least it was infrequent and quick.
Elton's music was always hit and miss for me. There were several songs on this album I liked. This one, Funeral/Candles, and All the Girls Love Alice leap to mind.
They made up for it and buried it so deep in the mix you could hardly hear it, overpowered by vocals, guitars and drums.
This is my single pickup Thunderbird adjacent bass, also a shorty, sporting a Lollar. I love this bass. It rips and is so much fun to play.
