Thunderbird Club

Here's a nice blue Lull

Oh my!

I don't believe I had heard of the Epi Accu Bass before today. It's basically a Fender Precision Bass, hence the name. A P-Bass with a great bridge, from what I have read / can see. Anyone here play one? Just curious how similar to a P it feels and plays. Do you feel like you P'd?
They were around for several years. Fugly headstocks IMO, in different shapes depending on the years.

I’m thinking of buying this Tokyo Thunderbird, what are your thoughts on if this is worth the money?

It looks kind of thick, neck seems a bit large too........

I so love that song!

Well we’re on the subject of the Jayhawks, here’s another one from them. Well sort of anyway; it’s actually from the Golden Smog side project, but they’ve featured it live many times.

I interned at Rykodisc in the mid-'90s. I remember Golden Smog from then. But the Jayhawks were a favorite among some of my friends from there.

Band I was in crashed at a house shared by members of the Jyhawks and Dave Pirner (Soul Aslyum). Our "roadie" took a bunch of mushrooms and stood in the street firing roman candles at passing traffic.
We did not stay the there the next time we played in Minneapolis......

I think they are plywood (not that there’s anything wrong with that), some have the old Epi 4 inline headstock and some have the Explorer style headstock.
I have the maple/maple neck with the Explorer headstock on an ugly 60’s MIJ body. It’s a very nice beefy, solid neck that belongs on a better body.

I’d like to build a Mockingbird body for it one day.

P bass with a funky headstock. Basic, p-like axe. Not remarkable in any way that I noted

It’s a good exercise to not play notes.
Grooving in reggae also depends on the interplay with the drummer.
Good point. Learning "not" to play is something that I don't think comes very naturally and must be developed, so most anyway. I know I have to think about it and where the nothing might actually sound better.
