Thunderbird Club

The way it works here, jury duty once selected is 9 to noon and 1:30 to 4:30. It’s almost like being on vacation.
Sounds similar. Last week I noticed some show up in the morning and at least once a group was to report after lunch. We check a website and by 5pm will know if your group is needed the next day, and when. Today is orientation at 9:30. Getting ready to leave now.

Wear a Clint Eastwood graphic tee from Hang’em High
I was thinking of asking once there "If we get to hang anyone today" or "looks guilty to me." Marshall wisely warned about such an approach. Judges and contempt of court was the problem. I detest downtown so I want to spend as little time there as possible.

I am really getting back into reggae. There is a low power independent station here called Savage Radio. An eclectic mix of indie, alt, punk, old school county, reggae, ska, etc. Bob Marley fades into Hank Williams, into Waxahatchee, into the Vibrators, etc. I love it.

I love playing reggae but really suck at it. Seems with reggae (more so than other genres) it’s all about the notes you DON’T play. I really have to focus on laying back, relaxing, and holding back.

Oooofff, this is going to be a beast:

1978-79 P-Bass.

I know everyone says that removing wood from under the pickguard doesn’t make a huge difference, but I will be taking A LOT of time removing as much as I can from every nook and spot under the guard, and also a deep cavity under the bridge, all while take care to not come to close the the neck pocket or the tail end of the bridge. The body alone weighs a small bit over 7 pounds, so if I can remove 1/8th of the wood, then that could equate to a touch over 1 pound, and if I can keep it under 11lbs, it will be about the same as one of my other old P-basses. Still heavy, but tolerable(just barely)

It’s a good exercise to not play notes.
Grooving in reggae also depends on the interplay with the drummer.

From Saturday’s gig. Liz Beamer and the Bog Boys:

Mike (Whiskey Jack Jenkins) brought shot glasses and a flask with coloured water so it looked like we were drinking the whole time. There was another flask with Burns Bog Whiskey from East Van distillery.
I combined some old jazz musician names for my character: Horace Thigpen
For a second there I thought you meant Pigpen.

I have a tone shaping SushiBox Slampegg preamp modeled after an Ampeg on my home board, added a DI (the SushiBox DI is far superior to the MarkBass DI), which also has its own 4 band tone modeling.

The same on my gig board, it has a SushiBox Underground Accelerator preamp based on the Alembic F-2B, also with a SushiBox Finally DI which has tone controls which can be bypassed.

BTW, any of the 4 can drive a power amp.
I got in a hurry and let AI give the wrong answer. As I now remember, the UA is based on the Bassman tone stack.
