A while back I had the Ashdown EVO 300 2x10 combo made in the UK. It was a fantastic sounding amp (nice and deep with dark but clear lows and plenty of punch) but unfortunately it was also fantastically heavy. Casters helped on level surfaces but stairs were a royal PITA.

If I were to look for another I'd start with the Klystron line, Reverb has a nice one on the block at a good price…

I was thinking about a made-to-order Thunderbird with one pickup in a specified location, chrome hardware, a stop bar, and a customer specified color. The answer is probably not, and I probably couldn't justify the price even if they would. Never mind that, it would make me happy to know it's a possibility.

This is a new Thunderbird, built at Gibson by Jim DeCola.
It's completely possible.

How did that happen and who got it built?

Other than the very cool one-off II Reverse V and Rob posted the pic of, I don't think Gibson has produced a neck through since around 2019. The current Gibson Reverses (the Simmons and Rex Brown) are both set necks.

I suppose if you've got an unlimited amount of cash, you could possibly sweet talk DeCola into building a neck through like the one in the pics. But if it's not a 9-Ply, what is it?

Our guitarist had a Victory many many years ago. He said it getting stolen was one of the best things that ever happened to him. It was so heavy that it was unpleasant to play.

Definitely. Looks pretty centered, whereas the original is closer to the neck.

Ha! But it's blue! And I have a soft spot for slow cars that have trouble staying out of their own way. Although I have owned a couple fast Volvos over the years…but they were turbos.
