I often take that with a grain of salt. People are incredibly biased. Makes me think of all the Americans from more rural places thinking NYC is a scary, dangerous place.

Limon is the drug running capital of Costa Rica. About the most unsafe place in the country. Never made it there as the road from San Jose to Limon is frequently washed out.

That doesn't make the road to Limon all that different from any other road in Costa Rica. That is the only notable downside of Costa Rica, best I can tell.

We drove from Manuel Antonio to Puerto Viejo and had a fantastic time. Also other places in the area. I'd go check it out for yourself and not go on reputation or stats. I can't wait to go back. Only downside for me is that all the "good" diving is off the Pacific coast. I didn't find any of it particularly special, but I did find some great nudibranchs, which is often my focus.

The Pacific side is different. Not better or worse. I didn't see any nudis, but the big animals were spectacular. Mantas and sharks are amazing in a very different way. And playing with a willing and apparently friendly octopus is a novel experience.

My daughter-in-law would have melted. And it would have been impossible to get her to leave a place like that. She would have fallen completely in love with those little animals.

Well now I’ve got quite the little powerhouse:

No shortage of bass out of this cabinet. Using my ‘70 Jazz, I actually struggled with dialing the bass back and finally disengaged the shape, and then I had more control of the lows out of the cabinet. Unfortunately didn’t do that ‘til the last song, so, more getting acquainted again on Friday. This is a clear sounding cab, and minor adjustments on the head are more noticeable than with the 210/115 cabs I had before. Going to bring a ‘bird on Friday and see how that goes but I know I can find the tone I need with this, definitely gets low.

You might remember a little while ago I mentioned that a developer had demolished the house that Malcolm & Angus Young grew up in.

They have now put in an application for a mixed use building with housing units on top, taller than is usually allowed, with the sweetener that they might call it AC/DC tower.

When the news came out the wags immediately started their comments with…

“It’s a long way to the top”

Maybe not that particular one, but being a PJ setup, you could always replace them with something like the much-liked EMG Geezers. Or even route the wood out for Thunderbird pickups. This one especially is so cheap you could really mess with it and not feel bad.

RIP Ozzy and RIP bassist Malcolm-Jamal Warner (Theo from the Cosby Show) - he was excellent in The Residents.
Plus I’ve had 2 friends die this week, and it’s only Wednesday morning here. (Both in care, of differing levels).

I have an older VP from 2017, (shown there as a 60’s) and I love it. With the right strings it sounds fantastic. Others here also have the 60’s as well as the newer “‘64”, and many say the ‘64 is a bit better at bringing the bass, meaning the lower tones. Brace yourself, you are about to get a lot of info. This clubs loves to share it’s knowledge.
