Within the span of about a year & a half, I lost my Mom & Dad both to cancer, and I lost my home, wife, fatherhood, and job, and I'm sorry to go all "country song" on ya... but I even lost my truck & my dogs. After that, I crawled into the bottom of a vodka bottle & lived alone there for a year. THAT was a BIIIIIIIIIIIG mistake. All that did was take all that loneliness and grief, and amplify it. I'm livin' at a friends place now...I have a bass & an amp now... I have some AWESOME online friends now... there is light at the end of the tunnel NOW!

I'm crawling' outa the hole man. I reckon ya hafta appreciate the glass, before you can worry about whether it's half full or half empty...
Damn Dude Ive never considered the actual glass other than what percentage of contents were occupying it. You go deep. Everything is gonna be Fn groovy if you can just set yourself on track, hell Ive left behind what some never have just to keep sanity and stay positive moving forward. You know what makes you happy and what works for you. Do that!, make that happen!.

Hmm. I like the look of it, and I'm steering towards a look here for my 'Bird. I may get into pups too, even having an Ebony board put on it instead of the Rosewood w Iron Crosses motif, no position markers at all...
I really do like this cheap-O bolt-On 'Bird. I just wonder if maybe I should splash for a nice up-scale model instead, then do the heavy mods.
Just to clarify... yer talking' about buyin' a nice up-scale model, and then doin' the heavy moddin' on the "cheap-O bolt-On 'Bird"... right?

I'm doing fine, off all pain meds the day after surgery. I'll be good as new in a month.

My dad died from prostate cancer, I knew it was coming for me, been getting checked for years. This year's biopsy was a six on the Gleason scale with a slight spread from last year so I knew it was time to act. Three days before the scheduled prostatectomy I decided to have the 35 year old hernias done too since I'd be under the anesthesia anyway. Otherwise I would have gone to my grave with them, like my 89 year old grandfather, Cataldo, did.

Pain is inevitable, suffering optional. I'm looking forward to the next 70 years.;)
You are one baaaaad dude!:cool::thumbsup:

You have to ask for it, its like Wendy's has the Grand Slam burger but its not on the menu. What the hell right?, you find out about it on the street in some seedy district after hours from one who doesnt even possess enough teeth to bite into one or enough brain to consider what to do with it if it should fall into ones possession.......what the hell?.........right?..........am I driving ok?.......Damn!.
Wendy's has a Grand Slam burger???

We are impatiently waiting for an effects player to respond to an ad we have running just for this purpose, but!....an 8 string?. I would have to achieve a higher education in science, physics, geography and math to manipulate such a weapon. Sounds like fun and a challenge but you could be right about this.

They are tuned in octaves like a 12-string guitar - Doesn't require any higher education, just needs a little adaptation in technique and probably also a pick, if you are a finger player. THey sound amazing and take up quite a big part of the sonic space.

Well... THAT didn't take long. 3 of the 6 guys in my "band" just quit. It was just soooooper nice of them to wait until 2 hours before practice to do it. Friggin' clowns.

Oh well. That gives me more time in the wood shed. I can always use that.

I guess someone told them about the 5-string... :roflmao::roflmao::roflmao:

Don't let that get you down.
I understand the disappointment, it will all work out.

What JJR58 says... Besides 6 guys in a band are at least 2 too many anyways - Unless one of them was a keyboard player, but then again you would only need one guitarplayer in the band.

Yeah... it's nice to know the heat's off with regards to my li'l 5 string surprise;)

The drummer was among the 3 that bailed out, so that kinda shoots the power trio thing squarely in the tuckus. (plus we practiced at his house, sooo... yeah.)

I don't really do the whole sparkly shirt thing. For one thing... I don't really need help getting noticed. For another... something about me in a sparkly shirt makes kids ask me for rides. (made about 250bux at a Chuck E. Cheese before my back went out)

Uh oh... This guy springs to mind... :roflmao::roflmao::roflmao:

I felt funny liking it too, but I can appreciate the attitude.

Good vibes your way Carlo, I'm watching that prostate thing too. Sounds hopeful, your on the "Good words going upward" list...
Many Thanks!

The treatments seem to be improving, maintain your vigilance and you'll be OK if/when the time comes to do something. Luckily for me, my doc literally wrote the book on robotic prostate surgery. He's the Head of Urology at the UF Medical Industrial Complex after returning to Gatorland from Johns Hopkins.

What I wanted to say was, the pickups in the bolt ons have a pretty good sound, while there is slight variation which can be due to wood and finishing (chunky neck on the more aggressive sounding of the 2 could also have an effect), they both have a sound that works well for what I am doing.

Best way to spread the info that birds are muddy? Go play one at GC with totally dead strings. With fresh strings they are not muddy. They are not like ash/maple instruments, definitely warmer, but not "muddy" by any stretch.

That is encouraging. Good to hear!
