Thunderbird Club

Took the 300 to rehearsal to check for buzz. I noticed it. Hard to tell how loud with people talking, etc. Not loud, but still there, so I think Chuck's initial thought to send it back holds. But, I will take the 500 over there tomorrow to compare before sending it back. The fans on those covers a little buzz and with the 300 having no fan noise, buzz is more apparent. Also a little louder on the 300 as well. Nice sounding amp otherwise. Not a big in the lows or all around heft, but it's got knobs and sliders to fix that.

do you notice a weight difference when lifting/carrying?

Wait. Those things move?:jawdrop:

Sorry to hear. But you gotta do what you gotta do. You know I’m here.
Nothing to be sorry about.

Good on him! Congratulations!

Yeah. I get that. We still subsidize the kids. Our parents helped us over the years, but nothing like what we have to do. Mostly with health insurance. Sign of the times. They’re great kids. Loving, compassionate, and everything we could’ve hoped.
Same here. I don't mind helping out here and there as needed. I couldn't ask for a better daughter.

Yes, noticeable, more so when also moving the 500. Not a huge difference but I would rather carry the 300 than the 500. That said, barely had the 300 output opened--not much different than the 500. (With the detents it's hard to compare. I was in between two notches.) But no drummer or percussion. I can see how the 300 would work well for 90% of gigs. Plenty of power.

I had emailed Ashdown Monday. Dave Green replied this morning:
The amplifiers are completely different so there will be some variation between the two units. Without actually hearing the noise level I cannot say if it is normal or not. The 300 does have a slight amount more noise than the earlier 500 but it should not be excessive.

I'll know more later today, when I A/B them at church. I had to listen for it in a big room and things going on like talking. At home, with nothing else it's obviously more noticeable.

Kudos to Chuck.

And good for you Marshall!

In the big scheme of things, I’m glad I wasn’t cut out, or meant to have a home and a family to take care of.

It’s all just me now, just trying to take care of myself which is enough on my plate.

I would have loved to stay in Germany. (Not open for discussion).

But back in the states and happy I’m just to be alive.

So to those who retire.
Do what you love, love what you do.
I'll just say the good of you being back here is a higher likelihood of meeting you one day.
Do what you can to enjoy life.

I'm really looking forward to taking a step back..............
Visited The Bass Shop today, they offered me a part time job there next year........
Sounds like fun to me.
I retired 13 years ago at the age of 55. Best quality of life decision I ever made. Financially it hasn’t hurt a bit either, I found my expenses went down significantly after I retired and after 13 years my retirement account is significantly bigger than the day I retired.

Jeff, if you ever need a temporary place to land I have an open door for you. Besides, I need a curator and maintenance manager for my vast bass collection.;)

always a fun one to play....this bass truly has 0 neck dive and that strap is not even that wide.....one of my favorite Birds...
this right after the new commander .... scolded us for not starting the second set on time....

Love hearing that second song! Such an iconic spy/surf sound and ahead of its time when it came out in 1958 especially when you consider what was popular back then…
