I’ve never seen a decent used one for under $450 without a case.I looked. Those things, decent enough for what it is, list at $239 plus tax now.
Too bad the bass is so big. I’ve tried them, but way too big for my diminutive frame.
Yeah. Flip the Rumble for at least $150 and get a new JC for $450. Not bad at all.I’ve never seen a decent used one for under $450 without a case.
I’m confused. Were you referring to the JC or Rumble at $239?Yeah. Flip the Rumble for at least $150 and get a new JC for $450. Not bad at all.
It’s not even that late yet. The Rumble.I’m confused. Were you referring to the JC or Rumble at $239?
It’s always 5pm somewhere. It’s not even that late yet. The Rumble.
It’s hard to tell from this pic what this rig was.100% tubes. The 200S is only 60w but the sound is just that much warmer. The Concert Bass is 200w class AB, so nice for SS.

Bet that laid down the thunder. The Coliseum was 300w if my brain can recall that far back. It’s hard to tell from this pic what this rig was.
Actually gigged through it.
Sunn Coliseum Keyboard head, SAE graphic eq through 2 Sunn 18’s.
And of course my trusty ‘65 P bass.

Not a lot of low end.Bet that laid down the thunder. The Coliseum was 300w if my brain can recall that far back.
A pair of 18s and they did rumble? I wouldn’t guess that given what their 15s do.Not a lot of low end.
But I didn’t care, in some ways that was a good thing cause I could push those cabs without worrying I would blow them.
Correct. The bird I bought was with a single owner for decades and gigged nearly daily. It’s the first time it’s been for sale for a long long time. I’ve seen at least three other 79 black birds for sale outside of the supposed six of seven posted. The chart isn’t completely accurate.Yeah. And the only 7 Ebonies for ‘79 has been debated. At one point there was a member here who had six of them and was trying to get the seventh. There have been a couple different ones that were supposedly ‘79s offered on Reverb. And I’m pretty sure at least one of them did not have the wear that George’s has.
Remember gang, it’s Gibson.
The original CTS 18’s weren't known for their low end.A pair of 18s and they did rumble? I wouldn’t guess that given what their 15s do.
My rehearsal space rig - mid '90s Mesa Basis M-2000 (650w tube/FET) & ported Carvin 18" cab. Amp output never above 9:00 with plenty of headroom left on my bass volume. Both bands don't play loud - I like 15's & 18's for the full, fat tone that they produce. Not sure what brand speaker Carvin uses, but it sounds good. The original CTS 18’s weren't known for their low end.
That’s a decent price. I think that’s about what I paid for mine a few years ago. None whiter.
Dave probably had to sample some new batches of beer…It’s not even that late yet. The Rumble.
Not the least essential here. Antiess.View attachment 7330986Pre-funk essentials, just let them slide right down!View attachment 7330986
would love to hear one through an ACC folded horn 18"..... pretty scary I would imagine....Bet that laid down the thunder. The Coliseum was 300w if my brain can recall that far back.
