Thunderbird Club

So this followed me home from my shift at the House of Guitars yesterday, it's been sitting in the display case for 6 months or more so I did a seasonal setup on it and couldn't put it down ( this happens more than I'd like to admit) so I bought it. I've come around to the '64 though I still prefer the Vintage Pro. This one is lighter than my Ember Red, plays great sounds even better! I promised myself no more import stuff but I couldn't say no. Video to follow. View attachment 7365746View attachment 7365747View attachment 7365748

Congratulations!

Does your wife keep track?

I didn’t think my wife did until yesterday. We were at my wife’s dad’s 94th birthday party yesterday. We were talking with her much younger cousin and asked where her husband was. He snuck away to practice with a country band he just joined. He plays a tele P. Major jealousy on my part that he found some people to play with. We were talking about all his “stuff.” He has one bass. But five or six amps and some guitars. She asked how many basses I had. I said “not enough Thunderbirds.” My wife started to laugh and said “I don’t know, but it’s well more than twenty.” Busted big time.
My friend with the blue Gretsch kit has 4 kits in that room:

And this rack of snares:

That’s not all the snare drums…
There’s a nice vintage Gretsch kit and a huge electronic set in another room, a kit in cases ready to take out to gigs and I didn’t see the Ludwig Vistalite set :)

Oh my!

Greco does make a Reversed Reverse body for right handed players. But it could easily be strung for a lefty and would actually look more normal that way. If so, it would be a Reverse Reversed Reverse.

It spins.

Square heel... another variation not noticed before.

Lovely color. Congrats.

I don't know what to say.

For those who love their purple Thunderbirds. Personally, I always loved Annette.

Worked maintenance for a guy who had a '64 that color. Or pretty close to it. Cool car. White top, tilt up and out the way steering wheel, and what I really thought was cool at 16 or 17 was the swivel driver's seat.
