Wife just took off to meet up with our daughter for a week in Paris. I wasn’t invited on the “girls’ trip.” Oh well. I came up to the mountain to get everything ready for the holidays.

Pro tip: Have a kid who works for an airline. LAX to Paris on Air France. $160. She said the plane was only half full. She has three seats to herself. Have gobs of Marriott credit card points and pay nothing for a nice hotel for a week. Long term retirement planning at its best.

I also have DTFs on my LPDC Tribute. They sound great and don't bother my fingers, but I also play upright.
Question about the LTFs: Are they actually lower tension or is it just the feel?
Only point of comparison I have is between LTF's and Roto 77's, but between those two the LTF's are very, very low tension. I had the 77's on my white Epi bolt-on and when I set it up with the LTF's, I had to take nearly all of the tension off of my truss rod and let the bass settle with the lower tension strings for a couple of days, and then do a second setup on it once it had a chance to relax. That neck was bowed so far back on the initial installation of the strings that they were rubbing the frets.

Those strings are so buttery smooth that I'd never go back to the Roto 77's, and those were my go-to flats for about a decade.

(edit: any excuse to sneak in a pic on WBW)

Got better results with the '66 NR last night. Used the La Bella LTFs and also lowered the bridge pup a good bit and at times rolled it's vol back from 10 to 9. Lowering it seemed to help more than just backing the vol off, but may tinker more with that. I used the Ampeg at first and the ABM for a couple songs and even that sounded much better--bitter and more full with punch. Even with the La Bella's I'm noticing a what seems to be some sterile highs for lack of a better description. Maybe the pups are lacking some low mids and the upper freqs are just more noticeable. (Likely ideal for someone wanting an aggressive tone.) Will try a few more strings because I'm OCD about what I hear, but was really happy with the how things have gone in a better direction.

Ergos on the 60s are killer. Moving to #1 in comfort? Seeming like it. "Someone" should make a reissue of the 60s NR.
