Crappy ones I guess. Martin Bisi was perfectly happy to record me with my Thunderbird.Cool. Pbass. They always want Pbasses.
Get a pic of the engineer when you open up your case and a Thunderbird pops out.![]()
great point....when that happens, I just say "let me drive for a little bit and I'll show you" and that quickly inspires most "engineers" lol...Cool. Pbass. They always want Pbasses.

Saw that! I’ll be there in spirit. Congratulations again on the release.Speaking of recording Thunderbirds, if anyone around NYC is free this Saturday, we're having our record release party. Should be a great time.

Possibly, but we run the risk of being chased and eaten by Killer Whales - there was a story in the local news about a Seal that actually jumped aboard a small boat to escape becoming their dinner.
Some just like them because they are familiar and easy to dial in and do minimal EQing. A good one would not tell a band what to use when they are paying him or her. Suggestions and why, yes. Anything beyond that is not staying in their lane.Crappy ones I guess. Martin Bisi was perfectly happy to record me with my Thunderbird.

Kind of reminds me of Ronnie Van Zant and Al Kooper (producer). They were playing Simple Man and Al said to not bother recording it. R said: "Al, you have nice Rolls Royce in the parking lot, why don't you go sit in it and we'll do this song." Al said he didn't think it was that good of a song and they should work on something else. Ronnie put his arm around Al and started walking toward the door and said, "You just go sit in your car, we'll let you know when we're finished." Which Al did--and Simple Man is more popular today than ever.great point....when that happens, I just say "let me drive for a little bit and I'll show you" and that quickly inspires most "engineers" lol...

Don Chiccone, he's the BL of Rue 66. Always favors '60s gear & dress as they play late '60s French Ye'Ye' pop. The guitarist stage left is also in an Italian '60s pop band called The Mina Project. (Mina Anna Mazzini - known only as Mina) You would love their show -who's Vox?

that's a big but...one thing from FL you don't get in CA....

In Rue 66, Kirstin is liberated from playing keys so she's much more animated on stage. TSC go on 1st so I offered my amp for the night. Don very much liked playing through it the last time we played. (how could he not?)
Their accordion player rocks! I was at this show in North Beach. Cherie did a solo open for them.
Don’t forget the ultra rare CSLE Tobacco Burst Eppi. Mine is the only one I’ve ever seen…They are in the Silverburst, White, TVSilver, and one of the couple Ebony runs they did. They are different and add a bit of variety to any flock. I really like them.
LOL -perpetually grimey is an understatement. They turn such an odd color of green they look like they are growing moss or mold. I have two of them, one quite aged, the other (promised to @MCF ) not nearly as aged and still quite nice looking but certainly not silver. Here it s next to the white CSLE I just modded for my nephew (pre mod)…Some of my favorite pickups. I'd kinda like to try putting them on one of those old through-neck Washburns you can sometines find around $500. Also curious about comparing them side by side to some of the Seymour Duncan rail pups that are in a PAF sized package.
I've had an eye out for an ebony or a TV silver, but the TV silvers seem to be yellowing in a way that just makes them look perpetually grimey...
Well of course it likes you. It picked you.My guitar buddy Andrew and I finally managed to both have a Saturday mostly free (in part because it was raining all day) for the first time in a month, and got together at my place to play together.
First time unleashing the Sinister Thunderbird where anyone else of musical inclination could hear me playing her. The wife and the cat have no great interest.
Without doubt, my best comfort level and play quality I think ever. Extra bouncy feels still a day later.
The 'Bird is perfectly happy to play Social Distortion songs in Eb along with Andrew's gold top, though my Rumble Studio 40 emulating an SVT.
Also first time the two of us jammed to Moises-modded tracks with the original bass and guitar pulled out, which was a new and unique kind of freedom.
I am bonding strongly with this instrument. I think it likes me.
That's not a space I would have expected as a recording room. The acoustics must be fairly interesting. I don't see a whole lot of sound absorption, but then I don't see many flat surfaces anywhere except the floor.Crappy ones I guess. Martin Bisi was perfectly happy to record me with my Thunderbird.

Wow! I don't think I've ever seen a CSLE burst. Has anybody in the club ever reached out to Gibson/Epiphone to see if they'd be willing to officially state how many variants they've made or the production numbers? They pop up on Reverb and Ebay but I'm really curious about the CSLE line. I vaguely remember there being a sticker on each of my pickups and another on the pickguard, but in the ignorance of my youth I promptly peeled everything off and threw it away with the cardboard box it came in.Don’t forget the ultra rare CSLE Tobacco Burst Eppi. Mine is the only one I’ve ever seen…

Definitely not what you'd expect for a recording space, but it works. We basically recorded live in that room, including drums, but the amps were miked in other rooms. That's not a space I would have expected as a recording room. Cool - I've yet to record my '64 II, other than with Eddie Taylor Blues Band in '80...got booked for some studio sessions.....out come the 60's Birds...![]()

The Mina Project doesn't have a bass - the accordion player covers the low-end.From what I can hear, the bass sounded great.
