Thunderbird Club

My sifu/Wing Chun teacher, Bob Angell, left us this last evening, he'd been dealing with chemo for about two and a half years. It's hard to lose people, I don't like it at all, especially when they're your teacher, brother, mentor, and friend.
He was a blues guitarist, a damn good one. He was there when Plan 9 got inducted into the RI Music Hall of Fame about 6 years ago, saw our set. He had a good word for my playing, that was cool. I recently bought his last record (Brand New Blues), which was being considered for a Grammy nomination. That was pretty cool too.
Anyway, it's hard to have to miss people, it's sad and lousy. But you keep the good stuff, that's what their life contributed to yours. That's life...
We are all walking into the light.

I'm going to jam with Reverie's drummer tomorrow, it's been planned for a few days. I was going to bag it now, but I think Bob would say, with resolute emphasis, that I should go play. He'd be right, life needs music, and I've always been a believer.

Life is good.
Sorry to hear about Bob. Will play some blues in his honor.

Went into town for a late breakfast catchup with a couple of mates, ex work colleagues.

Wandered up through Pitt St and saw the Christmas decorations at Martin Place.

Couldn’t resist a selfie with the big tree.

Well, there's part of my problem...

My "thin" 3-ply material is 0.090" thick, which is thicker than the 3-ply on my Thunderbird, which is only about 0.062".

Thicker material means the 45-degree bevels and countersink radii are wider, on the top surface, by the same amount as the difference in height.

Which will put the TOP of the bevel about 0.06" closer to the top edge of the countersunk hole. 1/16," essentially.

Which was right about the offset I was aiming for; around 3mm screw edge to bevel; which is what my actual T-bird sports.

So I suspect I either need thinner material, or I have to start over; my screws will be right at the edge of the bevel... unless I go to smaller (like #2) screws as used on the truss cover instead of #3's, or don't countersink full thickness. Or both. That'd buy me a few more hundredths. But would probably bother me.

I never noticed the difference in thickness on the pickguard, even though I recognized the single-ply truss cover and control cover were thinner than "typical."

Drag. Lost time more than anything.

I liked 'em better, but not enuff other people did. 60's through 80's.
We have Del Taco. An off and on again regional chain that’s not too bad. It’s primarily a franchise model. They seem to open and close pretty frequently. I believe Jack In the Box now owns the company. The football player Pat Hayden opened some around here late eighties, early nineties, and lost his shorts. Some new ones recently opened. The fries are pretty good….

My niece married into the family that owns owns the Taco Bell stores on the Coast from Camarillo to King City. They seem to be doing ok.
