Seriously, they were so good with this lineup, sadly I didn't get to see them at this point, just a bit later with Glen Hughes. For me, they were never better than this, their halcyon days. Their contemporaries, LZ were nowhere near this good live - ever.
Sounds like the singer is (still) firmly convinced it's his band and y'all are his backup band. Unless he started it, hired others, or everyone gave him control--it's a team effort. He can ask and say "can we do these songs another way," and if the others say no, this he doesn't get his way.
