I flattened it out some and will polish it, but that's all it's going to get. The chip won't flake off and won't have sharp edges to stab my elbow while I play it. No band practice this week, so I'll probably move the strap button to the heel where it belongs and polish out the poly this evening. I'm a little disappointed that we won't be playing, because I'm having a lot of stupid fun with the additional string. Who knew five strings could be such an earth rumbling hoot to play! I'll still stick to Thunderbirds and the 2013 EB for the most part, but for this band, the five will be the way to go.

He was/is a fantastic player. Really had some great and unique playing--but was mostly buried under the guitars.... After BF did studio work as I recall and some new music from time to time. I read a couple interviews with him, and he has to be one of the most level-headed, humble people around. Someone you would love to spend time with.

Knew LS guys from before either were "known." Grew up with some I believe, kind of like some of Molly Hatchet. Jax was crazy full of talent. I think he played on some of there early demos. Could be wrong, but recall he played with them early on some. He later played on Street Survivors on this cut. Medlock sang backup as well. With Skynyrd you could hear his playing more.

I was listening to this song on the radio and when it ended the DJ announced that Skynyrd’s plane had crashed.

The current Amazon problem here is them parking their big honking trucks far enough into neighborhood streets to block traffic.

Seriously, they were so good with this lineup, sadly I didn't get to see them at this point, just a bit later with Glen Hughes. For me, they were never better than this, their halcyon days. Their contemporaries, LZ were nowhere near this good live - ever.

So we had our Christmas recital for the seniors group thing I go to a couple of days a week. We recently started a singing group, had 4 fortnightly sessions before today. About a dozen women and two guys, me and another bloke.
Anyway they got us up for two songs.
The Rose (Bette Midler) and I Am Australian (The Seekers). It went off well.

Afterwards we had lunch at a local pub. Had a few people comment on the singing and my singing. Then just as I was about to leave for home a lady (from the French class I take) came up to me.
“I didn’t know you had a good voice” , oh thank you I said.

“Yes, we could really hear you coming through - you should sing in a Country Group.”
🤣 I just thanked her again and wandered off wondering if that was a backhanded compliment! 🤣

(I am Australian is folky, maybe some would say Country - I guess that’s why she thought that?)
(Plus I don’t mind Country (well some of) so I’d be happy enough with that. It’s just not something you hear everyday, getting specific like that).

of the thinking having a full time bass player probably made a big diff in that aspect.....was never lucky enough to see LZ or DP in the 60/70s but did see DP's Perfect Strangers tour which luckily included that lineup.....this said, enjoyed Hughes' playing a whole lot as well....prefer Glover's grittier tone.....
