Thunderbird Club

I have the metallic burgundy and love it as well! You’re right, the neck is a far departure from typical thin Tbird necks but still very comfy, not quite as much a handful as a P Bass neck but more than a Jazz. In hindsight, I wish I had purchased the ebony one, the tuxedo look with the white pickguard is ultra classic and formal looking. There’s a glut of the new and lightly used NR basses on the market right now, shop around and you can find some pretty nice used deals out there.
I saw Sweetwater is “blowing out” the ebony models. Pretty good price drop, but I’d like to support my local store if I can. Maybe I can to haggle tomorrow…

I had one of those. Yuk. I like SS, but I wouldn’t call that a fender profile. It had a terrible, almost V shaped back profile. Nothing like any (standard, medium OR short scale) Femder I own.
Well, it's the only 7enderish bass I've ever owned. And one of three I've ever held(it ,one J-I played sitting in, and one P-not played at all).

That’s a heck of a deal for a brand new one. The only other one I see on the site is the Heritage Cherry that isn’t even in stock but they “can get it” for $2399.00. Zzounds has an open box Burgandy one at $1599.00 and the Ebony one at $2399.00. Neither site lists any of the other colors. CME doesn’t have any. House of Guitars site only has one, an Ebony at $2399. Makes me wonder if they’re wrapping up production of them.

Hopefully you can make a good deal with your local! I love my “Faded Pelham Blue” one.

Edit: House of Guitrs also lists a Burgandy at $2399.00.

Too much? No. And it was fine yesterday. With a different symptom each time I strap the bass on, the high-Z short makes sense because the pressure’s different each time. We’ll see.

And all suggestions are appreciated. Well, debugging the problem suggestions, anyway.
Well shoot. Thanks for the caveat...I was already compiling a long list of suggestions I just knew would be received with much enthusiasm.

I played my first NR Thunderbird yesterday at a local store, and I can’t get it out of my head. It was the newer ebony finish and it was classy!!

It had a couple small cosmetic imperfections, but very minor. It sounded SO GOOD! the neck was a little chunkier than I expected, but I did like it. I just can’t get over that sound…
I might be interested in selling mine now that I have a old NR.

Happy Sunday!....

Oh, I will be cautious! I’ll measure, ponder, measure, and ponder. Unless it’s an obvious no after a ponder. I also might just go with an original style jack.
I'd be worried about stepping on the cord at some point in the future and cracking the wood around the jack.
My thoughts: get an original style jack, and then if the cover still needs a divot at that spot, make/get a replacement cover to modify.
