We had a light dusting of snow yesterday. Someone from FB remembered a post that I did years ago. Still looks like a good plan.
Cheers!

I played my first NR Thunderbird yesterday at a local store, and I can’t get it out of my head. It was the newer ebony finish and it was classy!!

It had a couple small cosmetic imperfections, but very minor. It sounded SO GOOD! the neck was a little chunkier than I expected, but I did like it. I just can’t get over that sound…

Yep. They’re nice Thunderbirds. More of a vintage tone but can growl. I don’t call the neck chunky, maybe voluptuous compared to a Gibson reverse neck is a better description. Ebony is tough to get absolutely perfect with a nitro finish. But the couple I’ve seen have been well done.

So why wait?

I have the metallic burgundy and love it as well! You’re right, the neck is a far departure from typical thin Tbird necks but still very comfy, not quite as much a handful as a P Bass neck but more than a Jazz. In hindsight, I wish I had purchased the ebony one, the tuxedo look with the white pickguard is ultra classic and formal looking. There’s a glut of the new and lightly used NR basses on the market right now, shop around and you can find some pretty nice used deals out there.

I remember that one, first time I had ever seen it happen. Super easy fix fortunately. Just remove a bit of the foil on the cover.
I have seen it, but bad enough it just shorted the input completely. That’s why it didn’t immediately occur to me. I’m also considering countersinking the jack hole.

It’s chosen you. Don’t disappoint it — and yourself!

I haven't seen that bad with the jack, but I did see it with braided shields touching stuff where the bass went silent. Electrical tape fixed that.

my formal "Pebble Beach" type basses.....the fretless would be my go to if I played in a Bond band like JIO's.....
