Thunderbird Club

Part Scot here. I like artichokes. I think I first had them in Paris. Some local pizzerias use them.
I would hope all do.....part of the ingredient list for Quattro Stagioni (Four Seasons) pizza.....

Do you eat “prickly pear” cactus?

The first fleet brought them here as a source of cochineal dye. But they were so suited to conditions that they went wild. Eventually we brought in Sth American (from Argentina I think) moths whose larvae eat them. Big success, 40,000 square km of farming land returned to being usable.

Later on Italian migrants arrived in numbers and they had another use for the prickly pear - eat them. Evidently both the pad - after removing needles - and the fruit are edible. I’ve never tried it. I have had artichoke though, nice.
Not to say others don't, but I do not. Don't recall seeing it offered any of the low-class places I go.

Last Friday, sub gig. Got new/old Dunlop Super Bright Stainless on the 34CA since then, and that's a good improvement over the fraying tapewounds that were on it... But the 'Bird got the favor from the sound guy... Present and clear, good punch however I played it. And as usual, notably comfy to play.
My corner office, with the Mesa TT-800 and ye olde Schroeder 1210R, tilted back on a chopped, stolen milk crate.

Oh yeah! Happy Monday!
that's one scrumptious setup right there Rog...

People eat Prickly Pear here, both the pad and fruit. I have had prickly pear candy, jelly, and even in cocktails (mostly margarita's). They only time I have eaten the pad was in tacos. I think they marinated it and then sliced it up. Was pretty good, actually.
Ditto

Yeah I think it’s more an “at home” dish here. The Mum and/or Nonna makes it for the family. (I guess others make it but you only hear of it in the Italian community).

I’ve not seen it in a restaurant.

I am the only person I know who likes artichokes. I think you need to be at least part Scottish.
Recently during his 'Meanwhile...' segment Steven Colbert tasted a current culinary "treat"... an anchovy donut. He hadn't previewed it during rehearsal wanting to have his reaction live. Needless to say, it was funny.

Rams won't be there....

Seattle is beyond surprising to me this year - I find that if I don't pay attention to the game, like the other night when I was eating oysters and drinking Manhattans, they did surprisingly well. I plan on not watching the game Sunday, though I will be at work and will easily be able to hear the crowd, Seattle peeps are loud!

Warm days, Thunderbirds, can't wait!

What a show this was!
