Thunderbird Club

It snows in Hawaii on top of the taller mountains. Those are a whole lot taller than you would expect. My wife and I went up Haleakalā last month, and it was really cold at the top, colder than it was in Seattle.

It's a relatively "warm" Winter here so far, yeah there was some frost on the Subie this AM, but really it hasn't been all that bad - Donnie's got it way worse!

And there's one of our/nearly everyone's differences. I liked Bruce's playing; strongly disliked* his tone. I started playing bass(a 66ish Gibson EB-3)when one was supposed to be similar to a UB: deep and full. Example of tone I strongly disliked*: Andy Fraser on "All Right Now".
Tweetchie zone.

*not quite "hated", but close
His tone fit on some songs, like White Room for example. But was too dark for my taste on others. I liked it better with WBL. Maybe because I was able to see them live. I was too young to see Cream.

I find that much of the current music is kinda 'bottomless'* except for kick drum. I wanna hear those big, fat, gut rumbling bass notes. Let the guitars, keys, whatever handle the middle range and up. I don't wanna hear the bass sound like a guitar through an octaver. IMO, there's no real foundation to build the rest on.
I know, I'm hopelessly stuck in the 60s/70s, but that's my preference to hear or produce.

*a good thing in some situations :smug:

So..one more oyster thing.
Mrs Gator and I went down to Southern Maryland for a pre winter storm boat check.
After we went over our boat we went to our favorite waterside restaurant for lunch.
Good view for watching the oyster boats come in.
They had a crazy appetizer on the menu..
Well, we like deviled eggs..and we like fried oysters.
These things were off the hook!
Storm predictions are over a foot of snow at this point.or even an inch of ice depending on where we will fall on the storm line.
Cheers!
