Music was allowed to be funny back then, and still be popular.
Jim Stafford had his own variety show at one point. His "Wildwood Weed" was played mainstream.
Hee Haw...
...and lest we forget: "My Girl Bill."
Good stuff.

Nope. Ordered it separate. Kept the original, but never played it other than testing.did you get the EB with the Hipshot installed?
Well, I rest my thumb on the "handrest", which is over the front pup.I have used his stuff before, it work well on unmodified basses and the applications that are typical. For the Epi and Gibson I pictured, it’s not typical, and he doesn’t make what I need. Also, his stuff is kinda big, and doesn’t really put the rest where I want it. I mostly just want to get a little more away from the bridge than where using the bridge pickup puts my fingers.

Oops! Swamp Witch was on the cassette!
Spiders & Snakes must have got more radio play because I know it better.
Good morning my Thunderbird loving sisters and brothers. Just checking in from sunny and beautiful Puerto Rico. Great conference and wonderful city, though missing my Thunderbirds and my man cave. Some folks leaving early due to storms in the Midwest and anticipated travel woes. Going to check out a local reggae club here in San Juan this evening and then flying back (hopefully) to Spokane tomorrow afternoon. I hope everyone has had a good week and are ready for a weekend off. Take car
Mine was likely part of something like that. Certainly had some K-Tel albums when young that were compilations of various songs. I don't recall having the one you mentioned though. That was on a K-Tel style compilation cassette I got as a kid. Rock Explosion.
I played the snot out of that cassette. It was probably my only one at the time.
This is it!

I always liked songs that told a story. Always though Charlie Daniels was a great story teller. (The rock/jazz/country musicianship was top notch as well, even if I didn't care for some songs.) The rt of telling a story in song seems far more difficult to do than using words and odd phrasing where you are left thinking, Well, it could be about 1 of 46 possible things.Wow! I'd completely forgotten this one. Has a lotta meaning to us FL natives.
Glad you are able to escape and enjoy some good weather. Safe travels. It's 15 here--and not 15C either!Good morning my Thunderbird loving sisters and brothers. I’m right there with you brother.Did I mention the 12in of snow we seem to be getting.... Looks like 6in later Saturday and another 6 early Sunday with temps in the single digits at nights. Seriously not funny. And the joy of shoveling...
