First, I'm not sure how impressed someone would be with something you did 30 years ago. You might want to try to get something a little more current.

Second, 25 years is a long time to hold a grudge. The time to act has long passed, by now you should be over it. This isn't something you want to take with you to your grave.

Third, you might have been better off posting this in the general forum where you could get 86 pages or more of advice. Pretty much all of it better than mine.

So, I'm looking at auditions. Everyone wants a music or vid sample now and I get it, problem is that I wasn't in a band for 20 years, so don't have much.
I have an old song from 86 that a buddy of mine uploaded onto YouTube. But it's a 16 track recording from 30 years ago. Got audition offers from some but many didn't.

So, my last band had a CD released after I got in a fight with the guitar player and my gear was thrown on my front lawn while on a date. They have two songs on YouTube. Both were songs we did when I was in the band, playing out and doing demos. They were nothing well known and they were on a minor independent label

I found an app that lets you download the music from songs on YouTube, at least some of them. Those two were, so I downloaded them and changed the band name to the one I was in after these guys kicked me out. I have sent it to 7 ads and 5 want me to audition.

Was it wrong what I did? Or does the end justify the means?
.......But you didnt post a link for us........

Good catch , MCF!

This is the bassist with a band known as The Canines. They opened for Goodbye June!

That might be the coolest TunderBird I've ever seen!

I played on demos. Played them live. All the other guy did was learn the songs and played on CD. I changed the name because I'm a vindictive SOB and very passive agressive to people who screw me over. It's been 25 years and still despise the guitar player.

I also decided that I am going to get around any obstacle that prevents me from getting into a room and playing. If it's not the right fit or someone is better, than that is fine. Just don't want bull crap stopping me from my goals.

"By any means necessary."
Damn I hold one of the toughest grudges this side of the Red River, I'll retain the title for my side and you retain the title for yours.

I posted it here because I feel that this thread has many people who have opinions I trust and respect.

My thoughts would be to let go of the crap with old band and use real name of band if it is you playing with them. These current acts are looking to hire you - not former bandmates.

My concern would be if any of these bands happen to Google songs and/or the other band name you use here. They don't know you from Adam and you are starting your working relationship with them by what some might feel is dishonesty. It would stink if baggage from the old band somehow got in the way of what could be a good gig for you in the here and now. I am not judging you here as I get how your experience with old band was nasty. Just offering another perspective - food for thought. And I could be overthinking this as I am prone to do.

Either way, you should feel good that you are getting all of these auditions, after being out of the game for a while. Kudos to you!

I also gave a different song title and said that these were made by us as a demo cd. There is nothing on Google with the band who's name I used. I tried to keep my tracks clean. This could be seen as dishonest, yet I can play these two songs easily and the goal is to get me in the door and have a crack. I'm also hoping to keep this tribute project that I have invested months into, just depends if the singer can get a clearance from the doctor for his ear.

Coming from an Italian family, my dad didn't know he has 2 aunts until he was probably 18 and someone else told him about her. Ya my grandmother held a grudge against her own sister for over 20 years… I don't know when they settled it or when it started but I know the first time I met her my dad was probably 45.

Some clown I shared a high school locker with in 87 stole my earmuffs on the last day he attended that school, I was so mad at him but never got the chance to even call him on it as he vanished. Today if I seen him I would still give him a verbal thrashing about the earmuffs. Unfinished business that needs closure.
