Thunderbird Club

I did buy a thunderbird in Buffalo in spring and carried it across the border. It was the toughest border crossing I have ever had; both coming and going all kinds of questions about why I was crossing the border to buy a bass. But, in the end, all that Canada Border Protection cared about was that I pay tax on the import.

Shoulda had a papier-mâché Tbird in a case - take it out ... bring a real one back in.

I had thought about bringing a cheap, barely functional "bass guitar" to get the exit receipt then return with a "bass guitar", but I am in the Nexus program (a Canada/US program that allows easy border crossing by way of a pre-screening program, like the US global entry program) and any accusation of border malfeasance (such as failing to declare imports on which you do not owe duty) not only get you kicked out of the program but also puts you into the 'cavity search' program. I cross the border frequently enough that it is a real threat.

The roughest time I've had lately was last month my buddy and I went to Boston for a Marshall JVM410 with a cab. We did it in 1 day and we were in my old station wagon (can be seen in @Gaolee Van Club) So two 20 year olds in an old station wagon, 1 day trip to Boston, for an AMP, and "I talked the guy down $500 from his asking price" because it was in rougher condition than I was expecting. The guy on the Canadian side was not impressed AT ALL.

Nexus is great!

I guess I just hate the idea of giving someone else so much control over my emotions.

I agree. Besides, every moment spent dwelling on it is taking away from your own personal forward/positive movement/progress. Waisted negative energy is doubly wasted as the object of concern is on to other things and isn't waisting a nano-second thinking about anyone other than themselves. It gives easy instant gratification when watching a movie version of revenge, but realistically speaking - it's a dead-end street. YOMV

Epiphone Gothic Thunderbird IV Electric Bass Guitar

That second one comes with a case, and is in Joliet, Illinois (close to home), so I should have it by this weekend! I'm gonna go to GC first thing tomorrow & make it happen. I'd love to read your thoughts on it before I do. Thanks!

The second also does not have the strap button on the upper horn. A good thing, later (?) Goths have the button in place of a neck plate screw.

Unless, of course, you are a company operated by Henry J. In which case you can screw it up to the point you get busted by the U.S. Government. And then you will whine that it's politically motivated, not a result of your own sloppy practices. Then you go with baked maple for a while.

I'll take ebony, thanks.
An older take referencing Gibson-
