I love Ampeg so I first wanted a SVT 410HLF with a SVT CL. I just saw Aguilar DB 410 with Tone Hammer 500. It costs less money (still expensive though) but I don't know how it sounds with a Tbird.

What amps do you guys use ? Which rig would you recommand ?

My only word of caution would be on the 410HLF.
It has a ridiculous amount of low end.
It's hard to EQ it out, and depending on what pick ups you have in your Bird, may not be to your liking, but that is just my opinion.
Are you in any position to try out some amps and cabs in stores?

What one person likes another might not. Also depends what you're looking for, what type of music you play, etc.
If it's possible, go to local stores or GC's and try as many amps out as you can.
Or if you have friends with amps break into their house at night, around 1-3a.m. and try their amps out, make sure to turn it up to 11 though.

Maybe that last idea isn't the greatest but go to music stores and try out as many amps as possible, even ones you wouldn't normally considering

I tried a SVT 3 Pro with a 410HLF and a Epiphone Thunderbird Classic Pro a few months later and loved it !

The 410HE is a sealed cab, so it will have a tighter low end, and not go as low as the 410HLF is tuned for.
They are different sounding cabs, better is in the ears of the beholder if you know what i mean.
But if you like the SVT-3Pro and 410HLF, who am i to say or steer you otherwise.

I agree with @TBird1958 on the GK gear.
Have got a 700rbii myself.
I personally prefer sealed cabs.

Another vote for GK! I can't vouch specifically for the sound of a T-bird through it yet, but I've been a big fan of GK ever since "Appetite for Destruction". They have something magical about them that really cuts through the mix. Presently, I have an MB 210 combo, and plan to add a 115 MBP as soon as I'm able. You'll never hear me say anything bad about an Ampeg though!

There is one thing I will complain about with Ampeg... the weight! Obviously, sound comes first, but if you're gonna be touring, and hauling your own gear... GK has a huge weight advantage... especially their Neo series.

May I recommend something old school...though, maybe too heavy?
For about ten years, I've been using an acoustic 370 head and acoustic 301 cabinet, with a single, rear-facing, 18" speaker that uses a folded-horn configuration. They were designed in the 70s to replace the legendary 360/361 rig....(which is a whole other thread). It's louder than god....any god (and that includes the god that is the SVT head and 8x10" cabinet which I played for a couple decades). With a Thunderbird going through it, it's the best sound I've ever heard. Ever.
Oh, and your drummer and guitar players will quietly weep in the corner of your rehearsal space when you turn it on.
They might even change the name of the band to ThunderbirdMax.
In fact, they probably will.
The good thing is, if you're playing a club that has a backline, or even just a bass cabinet, the head works well with just about every cabinet, and it's all you need to bring. It's solid state, has a five band EQ, and is built like a tank.
And you can almost always find one on eBay.

I use an Orange OB-1 500 head and 3x12 configuration (1 2x12 Tecamp cabinet & 1 1x12 Earcandy Cabinet) The Orange has built in, foot switachable distortion channel if you want it. It is class A solid state. The rig is loud, focused and light. The whole thing is under 100lbs and easily transportable. Good luck on your. Even when it sucks, its still more fun than working!

The SVT-CL is awesome...but it's frakkin' heavy, and it's damned expensive. My main head is an SVT-3 Pro. It's a tube pre and SS power section, and only cost me $299 used. My backup head is a GK 800RB. Almost as much power and, while quite different (much brighter tone), still sounds great. That one cost me $359 all up, as it needed a hundred bucks in repairs to be working tip top. My cabs are Hartke 410's that generally run about $200 used around here. My whole rig including my pedal board and pedals prolly ran me less than a CL does new. Around the Nashville area, CL prices tend to stay high due to desirability. Know what gear goes for locally and you'll be a leg up on getting a good deal. Best of luck and get pics when it's ready!

My fave shop, Music Central in Hopkinsville KY has an Orange 4 Stroke head. IIRC it's the 300 watt version. It sounds fantastic! Sweepable everything on that one. Even the sweepables are sweepable!

Is it possible to modify the stock electronics so your controls are master volume - blend - master tone, instead of vol. - vol. - tone?

My Blackbird was modified by a previous owner to have two Vol controls and no tone knob. More versatile than in its original config (which there is nothing wrong with really) so that is cool. I am going to add a kill switch to it tho because I'm cool like that .

Do you have the room to move an 810? Given the choice, I'll always go for a tall cabinet with wheels than a shorter one, wheels or not. Plus, a bass player whose amp is big as all outdoors is clearly serious.

I will not offer any other advice, except to say that a 'Bird through the right amp can double as a seismic reinforcement testing device.

With a Thunderbird going through it, it's the best sound I've ever heard. Ever.
Oh, and your drummer and guitar players will quietly weep in the corner of your rehearsal space when you turn it on.
They might even change the name of the band to ThunderbirdMax.
In fact, they probably will.
The good thing is, if you're playing a club that has a backline, or even just a bass cabinet, the head works well with just about every cabinet, and it's all you need to bring. It's solid state, has a five band EQ, and is built like a tank.
And you can almost always find one on eBay.

The only thing better than that is a vintage or new 360. It's good to know I'm not the only one around here who understands the power of the folded horn.

Funny thing is that I love my 360s. I didn't like the 370 I had near as much. I also had a 320 and ran it through a 408 cabinet. That cabinet was one of the larger non-house and non-van objects I have ever owned. That combination sounded phenomenal as well, and would liquify guts a quarter mile away, just like a 360 will. I never had a 301 cabinet, so maybe that's why I never bonded with the 370. The one time I really loved the way that head sounded was when I plugged it into some unknown Ampeg stack. I do not like the baked in Ampeg sound, and a 370 into that stack didn't sound like an Ampeg. It almost sounded like a warm version of a much newer, much more hi-fi amp. There's amazing nuance and detail available from those heads if you care to find it.

As far as I'm concerned, those are absolutely not too heavy. A little bulky, but with wheels, no problems. The 360s fit into the back of my van with plenty of room left over for everything else.

Another way to wreak sonic havoc is to play an upright through an Acoustic Control stack. You have to be really careful not to get nasty feedback, but that's how it goes with what's really supposed to be an unamplified instrument. Get that sorted, and it's an absloute blast. In all ways.
