I’m surprised he didn’t name one of his kids that.
Actually met a distant relative of his while in the navy-- I kid you not, she had the name Zappa stenciled on her blue chambray button down shirt - the standard work shirt for enlisted people that went with the classic bell bottom dungarees.

Her father was a first cousin of Frank's- I say distant relative because her first name was Tina-

I may have a buyer for my Epi IV. I swapped strings up from the bottom 4 of a 5er set to the top 4 so a beginner has standard EADG. At first I thought I was getting a weird buzz from the opened up nut, but it was the loose tuning shaft I had just moved a string from. It was vibrating.

A bit more snow this AM. Glad I got out yesterday.

As much as no one seems to like the current weather in CA, I for one see all this as good stuff. At least another year or maybe two without the worry of the dreaded D word (drought). Winter is supposed to be wet and cold. And look at the bright side, it’s almost spring and we’ll all be complaining about the heat in about a month or so…

Yep. We’re not in a drought situation anymore. It’s nice to see some winter fog again that was essentially nonexistent for about fifteen years. But It’s the extremes that are maddening.

At least you don’t have to work in it anymore.

I got plenty wet yesterday… even after rearranging my schedule. Luckily I got to miss the worst of it by cancelling my morning service calls.

We are having another year of the dreaded D word up here in the north not-so-wet. It looked like we were going to have a good, wet year, but the rain and snow have stopped, mostly. Not much snowpack means water will be a problem this coming summer.

I know for us down here, many dry winters were somewhat saved by a “Miracle March” with most all of the winter season moisture and snow coming through the month of March.

I had been someone that “could” snowboard when I was in my 30’s, but I didn’t go up often. Then in my mid ‘40’s I went up a lot, and all during those years the winters were good. I watched the weather and timed my (now self-employed) schedule around good snow, mid-week trips. Then about 10 years ago we saw a bunch of years of virtually no rain or snow. I pretty much stopped going and never really picked it back up. But I remember that during those years, it seemed like we got enough winter weather in March to get us through another year.

yeah, when you're start seeing signs of "Oren por Lluvia" (pray for rain) in the Central Valley, you know you're in trouble.....
We were in deep trouble before the ‘15/‘16 storms. ‘22/‘23 was also a good year. We’ve had enough in the other years to keep things ok. But we have not received a needed big year in the Colorado River drainage which is in a very precarious state now. That worries me.

Dude, you still worked......hydroplaned all the way to the office in Sanjo on 101 but at least I was indoors...

Nine still missing at Tahoe. Given the forecasts, anyone who went out Monday was crazy.

I'm going to work on the bridge of my new-to-me '69 EB0/EB3. This is one of the best years for the small neck preferred by many. It is wearing high tension Fender flats which I'm replacing with either Sunbeam mediums, or EBCF lites. Should I reduce the tension on the trussrod before I remove all the strings and the bridge?

You could, but there is no need to back off the truss rod before you remove the strings. It's going to be easier once the strings are off, so maybe back it off a bit at that point, then adjust once the new strings are on.
