Old set of EBCF and saddles look more normal.

Huh. Mine with 45-105 Dunlop Marcus Miller Stainless Superbrights.

That's the one you painted the HS?

Yes, it was fun, as always, you spend more time masking than you do painting - I enjoy painting, masking, not so much.

I do think it looks much better than the stock.

First pic's of our recording session -

Paul & I on "Not MI6" - I'm playing over the fb for that growly 'double-bass/upright' fretless sound...

Phil - heavy burden being mic'd in the open space (can't d.i. drums) so he couldn't f-up... (...well.., we did a few takes of each of the four songs ;))

Kirstin 'isolated' in the control room with Robert - on one song, "Sunday Suit" we're going to send her keys in post productions through the Marshall amp behind her in this pic for some gritty Mitch Ryder & the Detroit Wheels dirt.

This just came on the radio. It’s been a long time since I listened to it. It would be cool to hear you guys do it.

Where'd the young dude go?

Had a regular Dr visit and blood work this morning. Dr walked and greeted as always. Asked how I was doing. I told him I'm older, dumber and uglier. Other than that I'm great. He cracked up--and made no offered to address any of the three.
🤣

When hairdressers or barbers have pictures of famous people up as examples of available hairstyles. When they asked me what I wanted I would say I wanted them to “make me look like George Clooney”.

They never did.

Ha! You always remember what we talk about.
Yeah, been on the fence a while now with that 3 pick up idea.
Still don’t know where I sit with it right now, thinking of removing the neck position ThunderBucker.
I’ve been so wrapped up in the FSO’s lately…….
Three pickups on a Tbird looks cool for sure, but I know I would just find the sound that worked. And then I'd be thinking about using one of the pickups on another bass.

The first part of this is the 64 with the original bridge and the Badbird with the tone dimed and zeroed. The rest is other basses. All running through the B-15 mic'd. The 64 had SIT Power Steel strings. The full explanation is in the YouTube caption.

They all sound good. I probably like the '15 best in this comparison. You know the '15 has stupid strong magnets, and it's a balance to get the pickups in the right place. The pickups in the CP might be a little low. I was surprised by how much quieter it was. I usually like TB+ pickups a lot, and that's what it has unless you changed something. Pretty nice comparison video overall.

The CP is 2mm from top of PU to bottom of strings. The 15 is 4mm. Some of the volume differences could be my lack of control on how hard I was plucking the strings.

That's bout right. More correct than they likely knew. I always thought people used the term to sound important (busy). It's funny that was such a go to hip think for maybe two decades but now has enough studies that it's been debunked and proven to actually produce significantly less productivity and additional errors from interruptions.
I tried to read this while on a phone call, typing an email, eating a snack, and practicing for Saturday's gig but I kept getting lost. :smug:

The setup was recording through a 1965 Ampeg B-15NC mic'd with a Behringer B906 into a Behringer U-Phoria UMC202HD audio interface and recorded with Waveform 11. The EQ on the B-15NC was flat.

Strings used:
SIT Power Steel - 1964 Gibson Thunderbird II, 2015 Gibson Thunderbird
SIT Power Flat - 2017 Epiphone Thunderbird Vintage Pro "Willbird", 2021 Epiphone Thunderbird Vintage Pro
Ernie Ball Cobalt Flats - 2014 Epiphone Thunderbird Classic Pro
After listening and going back a forth. I think the Willy Bird and VP sound amazingly close to your Hondo. ;)
I loved how each sounded comparing neck only. The CP and the '15 were noticeably more modern sounding. I don't think I was hearing things with my eyes. I like those the least, for my tastes. Not that they sounded bad, just preferred the others much better. I'm sure what you heard in person was different than the recorded sound, but I liked all. Thanks for posting.

Yes it does.

Your Trace Chuck was working on?

Yes, it's still there in Hollister which is fine as I'm using the Ashdown for all of our shows at this point. I'll make a trip to California (you should too!) and pick it up at some point 😺

Ahhh............ Thursday.
