Thunderbird Club

Oh, hey! Any recommendations on what strings I might wanna put on this Goth? I'll be looking for a bright set of .045 - .105's... and yes, price is a factor.
If price is a factor absoutly contact TB member Bassstringsonline and ask him for the lowest cost set of bright sounding strings he has. He'll take good care of you and you'll be a customer for life. I get all my strings there now, best prices and best selection anywhere.
Someone mentioned DR Black Beauties - great strings and I'd bet they'd look and sound killer on a Goth but they aren't known for being a bright sounding string, actually they are quite the opposite. I don't normally go for bright strings but the brightest I've tried were Cobolt Rounds, not the cheapest string out there but a very unique and authoritative sound that I suspect would really make the Goth a screaming grind monster.

For those of you contemplating a purchase of the new Epi TBird in White, be sure to post your picks over on this thread as well...
Show your White Basses!
There's hundreds of white basses in that club and no TBirds! We gotta get out more and preach beyond the choir!

Edit: there was one white bird posted there 3 years ago.
I'm at work right now but I'll post something there when I get home

There was one posted a few weeks ago, page 29

Interesting you mention the Cobalt Rounds, that's one round i do like, they seem to last longer then most, for me anyway.
But correct me if i'm wrong, aren't they a little hard on frets?
More so then SS's.

Just wondering, how hard is it to switch back and forth from 4 to 5 string? The other thing is that if I get this it delays my purchase of the Vintage Ebony.

It comes with a case and may not be there long.

Like I said, I'm not into bright strings but I did give EB Cobalt rounds a try when they first came out. I absoutly hated the sound and noticed after just a couple of days playing there was a pile of brass dust around the nut on my bass. So I'd guess they could be hard on frets but I ripped them off long before I could find out. Many swear by them though.

It's not hard to go back and forth between playing them, just don't play one for a long time and not expect it to be odd picking up the other one after.

Agreed, @Dr_Feelgoood212 .

BTW, I have this bass in a 5 string and it's a bit of a boat anchor, IMO. If that's not an issue for you then go for it as it's a solid bass. If you'd like to know what it weighs, I'll weigh mine when I get home later this afternoon and post about it.

Ok, Dunlop Super Brights it is then, Thanks G.

If it's anything like a Studio V it'll be in the 10-11lbs range

I'd appreciate that. It'll give me a little time to think about it. If it had tbird pickups it would be on its way by now. I already have a couple of P/J basses. The more I think about it, the more I'm more inclined to give it the 3 day rule. And if it's gone, it's gone.

Haven't shown much interest. Sagan wanted to climb up it, Rosa yawned, then went and sat on her heat pad.
Better that than mutiple trips up the bass. Dick the Cat was a reincarnated bass player. Or maybe keyboard player because he effectively eliminated one bass.

The P/J config bugs me too, it's an epiphone tbird, it should have tbird pickups

I don't know for sure. I have had good results with Cobalt Flats. Just make sure you don't get 'em too light or they will be way too floppy. They are easy on frets, and they are bright. I get a pretty good angry piano out of the '91 with those strings. It has Chinabuckers on it for now, until I get around to getting Thunderbuckers for it.

Mmmmm, ok, food for thought.
Last time I used them I used the light gauge set.
Can't handle heavy gauge strings, but I personally didn't find them floppy though.
And Thanks Will.

Hmm 45 minutes from home. Think they have an STV head there as well....
