I have chronic mufunzalo so no GAS.For whatever reason, I have never been drawn to Ampeg amps. The other night at band practice, I used an SVT model on my Fender Tonemaster Pro. Holy smokes there was the tone!! Now I am going down that rabbit hole. I like my Aguilar AG700 head, but now find myself looking at V4Bs.
GAS sucks....
Being older than most of y'all, I was working/playing every Saturday night when SNL was good. Never seen either bit.Actually not. Somehow repetition on social media became considered "news." It got repeated and passed around so much It was "truth" after that. At the time a person was talking about it and saying "the person" said it and they saw it. I'm like, that was Tina Fey--you don't know the difference? Not a fan of the person in question, but am of accuracy.
What was actually said was "They’re our next-door neighbors, and you can actually see Russia from land here in Alaska, from an island in Alaska," which is clearly not the same thing.
Same here. I still remember laughing so hard I had trouble breathing when I saw that when it first aired. SNL was really special back then. I would have been 14.
Somebody say....

My Ibanez AGB200 semi hollow has a smaller body than the EB-2/JC/whatever, so no problem-o:I don't play my hollow-body basses all the time, but I hear you - it's also an often sighted issue with Ric's. I occasionally will have interface with my forearm but my right hand is mostly floating over the strings supported by my pinky finger as a grounding point so it's never a major issue for me.

"Beam me up, Scotty.""Judy, Judy, Judy" - Cary Grant (never said it)
This is the V4B-AV, which is a V4BH:I didn't know you had on of these (BH [AV version of a BH?]). Or forgot. What about the V-4B AV do you like better?
Doggone. Now you're like me and we both know we're human!Self correction time.
She never said the Russia thing. Squirmish is all her tho.
Interesting. I didn't recall hearing him say that (I like the old movies--if I'm going to watch a movie), but just assumed he did somewhere."Judy, Judy, Judy" - Cary Grant (never said it)
the Klystron is an absolute beast....two ABM 550Watt independent output modules....Palladino used to go out with two into two Ashdown 8x10 fridges and his P with The Who....
Neil has been playing through them as part of his chain for years.Wow - I had no idea Magnatone's are so good.
I frequently wear one too.I use a 6" terrycloth sweat band on my strumming forearm when playing my hollowbody. Trick I learned when still trying to conquer my LP 6er.
No red marks, much more comfy, and the instrument stays cleaner.
Rich... Sorry, just dawned on me I think I typed "Rob" above. This is the V4B-AV, which is a V4BH:

The V4B (re-issue maybe?) is the one in your post that’s at the bottom with the silver/blue cloth. I don’t have a pic of mine.
I just like the V4B better than the V4BH, it’s got more definition in my ears.
This is what I use the V4B-AV (BH) for:

It’s powering the bottom 212 cab, driving lows. The top amp is a ‘73 Ampeg V2 50w guitar head, driving more highs.
It’s fun.
So a good guitar amp?
I believe Rich Little did."Judy, Judy, Judy" - Cary Grant (never said it)
The point? Just because. Those seem like cool amps.
Personal ignorance here and serious question: what's the point of having huge 1000w amps? I know if a person is in a loud band, outdoors, no PA support, and possibly a few other things it could be needed. But if you have PA, is it really necessary, or to my real question, is there some mechanical reason or things that happen that call for mucho watts other just clean tone? I have never needed more than 300w. Even played outdoor once with a supplied backline non-huge combo. I've mentioned before, J.T. plays stadiums with a single 45w head and he uses wedges not IEMs. It's not an Uncle Ted concert but they tastefully get with it volume wise. So in Pino's case, is it he just likes the tone of the amp given he always has top level PA?
Hum...maybe some kind of trade deal is in order.
Now I'm thinking faster. I still likely need to get rid of a head from the inventory, but your AV is kind of interesting in that I prefer that tone. I'm the original owner of mine. I used it at church a couple months and then kept it at home for use there. So pretty low miles, easy on the tubes and no abuse at all. Spent all most all of it's life in our front room. I'm not tech savvy, but I've never had a problem with it and if it's less than functionally perfect I'm honestly unaware of it.I would trade my V4B-AV for your V4B, as long as your V4B is in perfect condition and has no issues whatsoever. I will put the original black plastic knobs back on the V4B-AV. Also, the rectangular “ampeg” logo is not original, so I can remove it if you want.
I did pay quite a lot (almost $1600) for the AV because it’s rare, but I have gotten my use out of it and would much rather have another V4B. I would like to be able to run both cabinets from one head and since the cabinets in the picture I sent are both 4 ohm, the V4B could run them since it will do 2 ohms. The V4B-AV (BH) will not do 2 ohms.
So pretty low miles, easy on the tubes and no abuse at all. Spent all most all of it's life in our front room.
two words....Townsend/Moon and multiple acreage coliseum stages where you'd walk around and still have to hear yourself....some say, more is better especially where headroom is concerned....totally with you however on what seems like obsolete thinking....early Klystrons also had the problem of user error because they didn't clearly state that the outputs were NOT bridgeable on the artwork in the back.....Those seem like cool amps.
