I'm so much happier with my tone and everything else that goes with playing a show using my 300W Ashdown. The GK's I used to have were 780 and 480 watts, way too much for any show we were going to play ( We always have FOH). An amp with that much power barely opened up just doesn't sound all that good and your sound crew will not like you or put you in the FOH mix if you're too loud, and being too loud is great way to get rid of your audience - people will simply leave your show if it's too loud. We played outside a bunch of times last year and will again this summer, you CAN turn your amp up under that circumstance, I got the Ashdown to almost halfway on the pier in Pt. Angeles, there were plenty of horses left if I had needed them.
