Who owns Photobucket? Apparently it was owned by Rupert Murdoch, reason enough NOT to use it, but was then sold to a Seattle company called Ontela, which subsequently renamed itself to Photobucket. 'In June 2010, Photobucket was named in the Lead411's Hottest Seattle Companies list.'

I hate to say it but this is the way everything is going. Be prepared for more and more content to be paywalled.

This one works:
Chrome Bass Bridge | Allparts.com

I also use them for the guts of Cataldo bridges. Three way adjustable, height, length, and spacing. Similar used to be available on Ebay. OK except for bad grub screws, easy to replace.

I've seen those before - nice looking bridge.

One question though: How do you adjust the length (intonation)? I can't see an intonation screw anywhere...

Well if it makes you feel better, I'm using an iPad and had left the Photobucket tab open from when I used it last night. I was able to still access my photos up until a few minutes ago when I posted the TBird pic.

Then I closed the tab and reopened it, now I'm in the same boat as you. My pics are still there (I assume because it says my bucket is x% full, same as it was before I lost access) but I can't access, view or post anything. Photobucket is officially dead to me.

I wish the schmucks all the luck in the world and I'd be surprised if they get even 5% of the previous users to belly up to the extortion bar! I wonder if any of the keyboard jockeys at reddit or 4chan have Photobucket files - those guys can be a nasty bunch to cross.
Freakin SOB's, guess it must be there new version of ransom ware.
Greed is not a victimless crime:thumbsdown:
Seems to be the way of the future, just sad.
I feel for those that aren't able to retrieve what is rightfully theirs.

Or not, according to bloat-oh schmucket.
Yeah, how's that!
That is worst part, is no notice or warning, there's gotta be a lawsuit in there somewhere.

Bandwidth is not free. Every time a page with a linked photo is loaded, bandwidth is used. People do not work for free. Keeping a hosting company operating requires people to work there. Electricity is not free. Keeping servers working to be available when you want to access a file needs electricity.

I am always amazed by the outrage when something is not free. Even if it used to be free, you should have no expectation that it remains that way. Read the terms of service when you sign up for a "free account". First is that terms can be changed at anytime without notice. Second, you give up many rights to what you are doing. For instance, by signing up for TB, I have given up my copyright to what I write here. The rule of thumb is if something is free, it is very likely that YOU are the product; which is to say, if the service is free, in all probability information about you is being sold to someone else.

If there is no profit available, you will find that there is no service available. Consider your bands - would you pay to play in venues? You provide the service of live music and assume that you will get paid for that. There are very few that will absorb the costs of providing a service of any kind without expecting to get paid for the provision of that service.

For what it is worth, I pay for not only my internet service, but also for email and online storage. Some of you may think me a sucker for doing so, however, it substantially changes the contractual arrangement in my favour. I wouldn't have it any other way. I give up no rights to the contents of my email or files.

Will photobucket go out of business because of this? Who knows, but if they can't generate enough revenue to cover the costs of operating, that would have happened regardless.

Just checking that out myself, it seems like there is some sort of access to adjust on those pieces that are before the black saddle.
But just doesn't make sense. what are we missing here?

You make a very good point, but they could have at least forewarned people.

I'm pickin' up what you're layin' down, but with regards to Photobucket... they ran like TV & radio. Avertiser bux. Of course they have a right to change that if they want... but what about their users. Any ethical or moral entity would've notified their users of what was coming. It's no different than renting an apartment. Say you'd lived at the same place for years, paying the same rent. Then one day you come home to find your locks changed with all your stuff inside, with a note on the door that said, "I raised your rent. If you want access to your stuff, you need to give me more money". Regardless of what your rental agreement or the law states... it just ain't right. If there is a moral compass in their possession, it's accompanied by a strategically placed magnet!

$400!? - really? starting when and did they send you a notice first? I also use photobucket and was not aware of this. ~!!~

Thanks to our fellow members for complaining about the change I logged in and was able to download all of my pictures from my libraries. I can understand charging for storage as bandwidth adds up. Its the amount they are charging for it that seems wrong. Average person will not want to pay and Photobucket is basically doing the same thing as holding your pics for ransom. Photobucket will probably save money by losing all of us non-paying members and cut overhead costs. I think they should have given everyone notice that it was going to happen. If they did I missed it then thats on me. If they just decided to blindside users with the fee then that is skeevy at best.

I've been lookin' out for Orville, Burny & Greco in my daily web searches for all things Thunderbird. I can't believe how much the price has jumped on those things! I remember when ya could see them all over the web for $400 - $600 all day long. Now I'm seeing prices like $750 - $1,200! @Nocturnal had mentioned Hamer 'birds. I keep a-lookin', but I ain't a seein'! I think they're a unicorn bass!

Hamer Birds are rare as Unicorn poop and expensive when you find them. But they are soooooo worth it.

My apologies up front for the non-TB content although it IS Gibson related! ;) Thought some of you might find this interesting, the restoration of Glen Buxton's (RIP) (Alice Cooper Group) old Gibson SG that was nothing but a body when found by Neal Smith. It's about 24 minutes long. Some guitar noodling with old Cooper songs at the beginning but then Neal appears and talks about how he found it and worked at getting it restored. Anyway, here it is...

As a fan of the original Alice Cooper band I appreciate you sharing this.

I think you will find that their terms of service do not require them to forewarn. Perhaps that will have some effect on their client retention.

Not actually comparable. From what I understand, they are not preventing anyone from getting their files, they have just shut down third party hosting. More like being informed that the parking spot that is not in your rental agreement that you have been using will now require a fee.
